This article is about Trump signing to go ahead and advance the Dakota Access oil pipelines. This is something Obama had already signed off on to end and now Trump is continuing it. However, Trump wants to renegotiate some of the terms, like it should only be built with US materials. The Standing Sioux Rock Tribe is going right back to protesting. They say, "President Trump is legally required to honor our treaty rights and provide a fair and reasonable pipeline process, Americans know this pipeline was unfairly rerouted towards our nation and without our consent. The existing pipeline route risks infringing on our treaty rights, contaminating our water and the water of 17 million Americans downstream." Trump says he is in favor of the pipeline because this country needs more jobs. I think this should have been done with when Obama ended it. There is no need for it in my opinion. It is on the tribe's sacred land that was said not to be built on years ago, it contaminates many people's water, and its 3 billion dollars. What do jobs have to do with this? I don't support Trump on this one, and I hope these protesters don't give up.

    1. I agree, people got so far with their petitions and protests, and now Trump is just negating all the progress they made. It's selfish of him to disregard their land like that. Getting our country more jobs isn't a good reason

    2. I think it's really unfortunate how Trump disregarded all of the tribe and everyone elses dedication and hard work to protest the pipeline. I think this really shows Trump's character. Obama already ended this issue, why did Donald bring it back?

  2. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-mexico-wall-building-plan-immediately-latest-a7546291.html

This article discusses Trump's official signing to build a wall along the border of the U.S and Mexico. Trump has said that the wall will cost around eight billion dollars, but others say that it could be up to twice that amount. I think the wall will take an extremely long time to build and I also have heard that Trump has agreed to the U.S paying for the wall since Mexico has refused. Trump has also signed an action to take away federal funding for sanctuary cities that do not prosecute undocumented immigrants.

    1. After reading about this and seeing this on the news everywhere, I was in no surprise. Trump promised the U.S citizens that they would not have to pay for the wall. All of the citizens who voted for Trump are now regretting it because they want a wall.... but they don't want to pay for it. I feel like Trump already had this planned out, I mean did he really expect for Mexico to pay so much money for a wall to keep immigrants out of the U.S.? The American people are just to naive and blind to see that Trump is not at all qualified to run a country of such diversity and difference.

  3. https://www.cnet.com/news/womens-march-overwhelms-mobile-network-in-dc/

This article is about the Women's march that took place the day after Trump's inauguration. Hundreds of thousands of people were there. The article says that there were so many people that it was hard to send and receive messages, as well as loading social media. The Women's March was permitted to have 200,000 people but instead got over 500,000 people show up. I think the Women's March was a great way for women to represent their beliefs in a non violent way.

    1. Its interesting to see how many different ways the people could communicate with the government. There were lots of talk on social media regarding this topic. Its interesting to see that so many people came out to this march. Trump said that your voices will be heard and not ignored so we will see how this turns out and what he will think about it.

    3. This is olivia i couldn't get my gmail to work so I used kailahs. I agree with Matt when he's says it's interesting how many different ways there are for people to try to keep in touch with the government. I think the women's march was so amazing and our voices were really heard. Especially after trumps inauguration, we really have to stand together as a nation and unite.

In this article Dale Ho is talking about how Trump did not believe that he had lost the popular vote by so much, in fact he is the first president to have lost the popular vote by so much. He believed that their was some fraud involved. If there was fraud involved against Trump how do we know that there was no fraud against Clinton as well? We don't so Trump saying this is kind of ignorant because the fraud could flow both ways. I imagine that it would be rather hard to commit voting fraud considering the fact that you need an ID and can only vote once in your assigned place etc.

In this article Daniel Hemel, Jonathan Masur, and Eric Posner are talking about Justice Antonin Scalia and how he left behind something that may prevent Trump from being able to build his wall. The amount of money that it would take to build this wall is crazy. Trump is trying to use an old bill to build the wall because he knows that if he tried to pass a new one that it would get shot down by democrats, so it might not get the required two-thirds. Besides even with the wall if someone really wants to get across that border they will: "where there's a will, there's a way."

Trump's White House is mixed with ignorance and vulgarity. What's worse is his obsession with the crowd size at inauguration, his untruths, inability to accept he won the election to where he wants investigate popular vote. But, it's clear the president doesn't like Muslims. During his campaign he called for a ban on Muslims coming to the U.S. In an interview trump said, " that the people to be barred “are going to come in and cause us tremendous problems.” He believes They’re ISIS. But, there's no evidence for his claim. A study shows that refugees from 1975 to 2015 found an chance of an American being killed by an refugee is 1 in 3.64 billion. The policy is fed by anger and prejudice, not reason.

Federal funding for abortions have been banned since 1973 except incases of rape, incest, or threat to mother's life. But trump's gag rule is far more than that. He wants to ban all funding that provide abortions or referral abortions. It would be cutting off family planning funds to reproductive health care providers. And taking away maternal health services to women. This rule increases abortions which it didn't intend to but mostly likely. This policy limits access to people for safe abortions. And Planned Parent-Hood reports 50% increase of women needing care after unsafe abortions.

  8. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/27/politics/trump-plans-to-sign-executive-action-on-refugees-extreme-vetting/index.html

In this article, Trump signed two executive orders one of them limiting the flow of refugees into the United States by instituting what the President has called "extreme vetting" of immigrants. The people of America may still be confused as to how Trump become the president of America, but now we can just hope for the best. Trump's extreme views on controversial topics help frighten the people who its referring to. However, Trump adressed multiple times that the people he is trying to get out of America and the people he doesn't want in this country are terrorists, drug dealers, etc. No one really knows to what extent this is true, but we can just hope for the best. Trump wants to filter the people that are coming to America. Keep the "bad ones" out and the good ones in.

In this article, the author talks about how donald trump indefinitely banned syrian immigrants from coming to the United States for the next 120 days. Is this not unamerican? Does this not go against all the freedom and americaness the citizens of this country love? In my opinion, as a citizen of the U.S. if you love this country you would want as many people here to reap the benefits as possible. Trump banning refugees goes against the american dream,

    1. I agree that America is the country to bring people in and help, but I also believe that there just comes a point where you need to fix your own country's problems first. Domestic terrorism is becoming a serious problem and like what Matt said in his article, you need to keep the "bad ones" out. Yes there are white Americans that were born here and do crazy things but they get punished also. You don't know who is thinking what when they enter our country. It sucks that refugees are over there suffering everyday but we've saved so many and I think we just need to set limits. But also, we can't just bring them in and send them out either and throw their lives & safety in the trash, that definitely isn't right. So who knows if Trump is doing this because he truly hates Muslims or he really thinks it will help America, but all we can do is hope.

I don't know if I agree or disagree with this article, it's hard to make up my mind. While I agree that the message wasn't necessarily set on one thing, or very clear, I disagree that is was pointless. I feel like each woman had the own message and that's what the posters were for. They weren't marching for themselves, they were marching for each other, woman as a whole. I am extremely glad to have been alive while this happened because it was a powerful movement!

Donald trump has been president for just a week and he's already causing us to have more issues with other countries than we already do. Trump says that North Koreas leader is a maniac and a bad person but that's literally Donald trump in a nutshell. North Korea has been threatening to launch a missile about to reach the U.S. west coast, and China is planting its flag ever more firmly in the South China Sea. Now isn't the time for trump to want to start problems with two of the most powerful countries.

This article talks about how after less thank a week, Trump is already getting into some beef with mexico. The White House warned that the United States could impose a 20 percent tax on Mexican imports. This threat came just hours after the mexican president canceled a visit to the United States. The article debates whether trump truly feels this hostile towards immigrants or he just used it as a campaign tactic. If the tax goes through, then it would have catastrophic effects on both countries. The United States and Mexico have been close economic ties since the NAFTA in 1994

    1. Trump thinks that he runs everything and can just treat people however he wants and it will be fine, but this is not how the world works and to get what you want you must be kind to others and work with them. It is going to blow up in his face when people no longer want to help him or do any business with him because they realize what an awful person he is. He is expecting for Mexico to fall right under his command but this wont happen as we can already tell. Things are going to get very bad very fast if he keeps behaving like his.

    2. It is really interesting to see how his whole presidency is going to turn out at the end. It also interesting to analyze how the news is acting like watchdog. Every time you go on CNN or any other news web, Trump is on their headlines. Its interesting to see how in the middle of Obama's presidency, news was not covering new executive orders, but because Trump and his ideas are so heated right now, media is throwing logs in the fire covering absolutely everything.

  13. I agree with you Trump is giving certain races and religions better treatments and if your not in those religions or races you wouldn't get equal treatment. I don't really believe in what he is doing. He needs to do something that brings the country together not separate it.

Trump is trying to ban all permanent immigration from 7 major muslim countries but thats illegal. Congress outlawed this more than 50 years ago. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 banned all discrimination. I don't know how Trump is gonna do what he wants but i hope he doesnt because its so dumb and pointless. Those people are coming here for a better life and he isn't giving them that chance and is treating them like they are all criminals.

  15. http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/03/politics/federal-judge-temporarily-halts-trump-travel-ban-nationwide-ag-says/index.html

This article was about the federal court temporarily stopping Trump's temporary travel ban nationwide. The court believed it violated the first Amendment the freedom of religion. Its interesting to see how so many people were against the temporary travel ban so the country could find out exactly who is coming and going out of this country. This is a free country; a country full of immigrants, however this country is also a country of law and order. Comparing this country to countries in Europe, this country does not have nearly as much laws and control. On one side it gives people more opportunity, but at the same time this could bring chaos in this country. It is not difficult for a person to come to America compared to other countries. Whether it be a nice person or a terrorist; we can hope that the people who are coming are good people who are just trying to find more opportunity just like me, but in order to keep this country safer, making our border system stronger is not a bad idea. That doesn't mean that we will not let immigrants in, it just means that it would be more regulated of who is coming in and out.
