Election day seemed like a dream to be or nightmare. Donald trump got his big win. And addressed the questions about the wall. A barrier between the US and Mexico. He said, it might be a mere fence in some spots. Just a few days after his victory, he's been backtracking about all the things he has said. And for Obamacare, he like's that kids stay on their parents insurance. He also liked that it prevents insurers from disqualifying people for pre-existing conditions. A hunch is that he'll change it to Trumpcare. He's a man of ego, not policy. Obama suddenly has faith in Trump. Or playing a mind game to save his legacy by complimenting Trump. He once said, I don't think he's ideological. But said that their meeting had gone very well that he could on his last foreign trip of presidency, allay our allies anxieties.
Trump is not one to sit around and wait he is one to get things done. I am NOT a Trump supporter but I am saying that Trump sees that this country is in need and is ready to change things. I have no doubt that Trump will change this country in more than one way but whether or not that change is good or bad is yet to be seen. As for Obama, he knows the country needs to be healed and i think that he believes that with some guidance Trump might be able to start that healing process.
Americans have elected a president who promised to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. Deport millions of immigrants and rewrite a trade deal Mexico depends on for a third of their income. Donald Trump to presidency could be the greatest foreign policy challenge to Mexico. The things Mr.Trump has said for, like 35% tariffs on cars made in Mexico could put them into a recession. And deporting millions could increase unemployment and crime. He could change the nature of a relationship since WW2 from one of peace to one of conflict and bullying. Since the election, people have been trying to figure out what Trump will do. Whether it will or won't be like he's said.
I don't understand why Trump wants to be so aggressive and hostile towards Mexico. Why not just make immigration policies a little more lenient so people can actually get in instead of resorting to getting in illegally? And if all the illegals were to be deported, then it would create a huge vacancy in the economy. Most illegal immigrants work labor jobs for cheap, and if you were to replace those jobs with Americans, they would demand a lot more mo ney
In this article Miss Naomi Klein is talking about how some people believe that Trump beat Clinton because of sexism but that is wrong. Just because Clinton lost this election does no mean that another woman will never run for office, maybe in four years our president will be a woman. Clinton's defeat should not discourage any woman from following her dreams of running for office. Clinton is no doubt a qualified woman but she was just not the right woman at this time, she was flawed as we all are. But, maybe, she was just too flawed.
I agree. I don't think this has anything to do with sexism and women wanting equal rights are not going to end here just because Hillary lost the election. I also do not think that it will discourage women, it will only make them want to work harder and make women realize how unfair society is towards them. I hope our next president is a women just so any sexist people can finally see that nothing is wrong with being of opposite sex. Hillary still should have won even though I agree she isn't as qualified as many people. (Barack for example)
I think that the Democrats losing the election isn't really what is important. The fact that Trump won the election is why everyone is so upset about Hillary losing. If you look back to the past Democrats have lost many times and they didn't have to "deal with losing". I am upset that a Republican won, but it would be easier to get over if we at least had someone who knew what they were doing, running our country.
I completely agree with you. The fact that Donald Trump won this election is what I am upset about. Like you said, if it was a republican that knew what he/she was doing then it'd be ten times better. This man however has no political background or a single clue on what he is doing.
I agree with you, everyone thinks it's democrats just throwing a fit but I really believe that supporters of Hillary were so confident and when he won it was so unexpected & devastating, especially to minority groups & women.
This article is about the Trump protest that took place in our very own city, Columbus, Ohio. Many of the protestors are consumed of college students of the Ohio State University. I think it's cool that people are standing up for what they believe in. One student said she can't believe that a man that uses such derogatory and racist terms is our president-elect. I can't believe it either. I went to bed Tuesday night GENUINELY thinking that Hillary was going to win the election. I couldn't believe it when I woke up to see that Trump won. I have seen so many petitions trying to get people to sign to impeach Trump, and I have probably signed at least five. I wish I could have gone to the protest that took place in Columbus. It's just so crazy that Donald Trump, a man who is misogynistic, racist, an authoritarian, narcissistic, a demagogue, and embarrassingly weak, whom also has no political background is going to be our president. It also really annoys me that Trump is our president-elect even though Hillary won the popular vote, which I tend to believe is much more important than the electoral vote.
I agree that people should stand up for what they believe in but i don't get what protesting will do for you. A larger group of america doesn't like Trump an die know that but protesting isn't gonna get rid of him or doing anything in that matter. I personally don't like Trump but i can't do anything about it because I wasn't able to vote. And whether we like it or not Trump is our president elect and we are gonna have to deal with him for the next four years. Also Hillary wasn't even all that either
other people, just like yourself, who say that want to take part in the protests towards Trump becoming President, lets say whatever you guys are protesting happens, then what? We put Hillary in as our President just because people are protesting? If somehow that happened, then what is the presidential election for?! why take our time and vote if after the election, people can just protest and get who they want in office. It doesn't work that way, what happened happened, and nothing is going to change. The electoral college is a system for choosing the next president; I say we trust it.
THIS IS CRAZY. It's insane that her rapist is even allowed to do that? You would think that he would be kept far away from the mother and child. I believe, that under NO circumstances, should a rapist ever be allowed to even attempt to try and get custody over the child of a woman he raped. I can't even imagine what the mother must have been feeling. I agree that he should have no rights to claim the child. He took advantage of someone and should not receive any reward for that.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/10/us/post-election-hate-crimes-and-fears-trnd/index.html This election has been extremely unique just by the fact that Donald Trump, a complete mindless, ran for president. After he won the election, there has been many people that think they have the right to discriminate others because of their race. It's not okay to discriminate Mexicans, Muslims, or anyone. People think that just because a racist won, it is okay for them to go and cause hate crimes.
I find it funny how we all joked about there being a purge when Trump was elected but look at this. This is basically what it is, he's trying to purge all the bad hombres in America. The article mentions how there aren't as many bad criminals as Trump thinks there are in the U.S. If he were to go through with his process, it would be near impossible, with home raids, traffic stops, and investigations. He'd also have to find a method to detain them while he takes them to the immigration courts. The article also mentions how there are a number of cities where police and officials refuse to follow Trump's plan, and that's a growing number.
I don't think people realize or even thinking about the fact that the electoral process of voting for the next President has been around since the constitution was written, obviously. So now, just because the 2016 election didn't go the way some people wanted, people are so quick to just say," lets just get rid of the electoral college." People need to realize that the electoral college is the reason some democratic presidents have acquired office over republicans as well. Everyone is just so upset at the moment because they didn't get what they want. The electoral college has a system, and the system works, it has for over 200 years. So yall have to chill with all of this "lets change the government completely" talk. In a few more weeks, once everyone cools down, everything will be fine. Trump WILL be our next President, and he will be for the next 4 years; and I find it hard to believe that riots and protests are going to just take Trump out of office and put Hillary in, that's not how the government works yall.
A rapist should have no right to be in contact with his victim or the child. Shouldn't he be in jail? And if he has already finished his sentence, shouldn't there be a restraining order against the mother and child immediately? It is surprising that the case was even worth debate considering that he had raped her. No child would want to be with a dad that raped the mother. It wouldn't be safe. Saying that the dad would be just as fit as any other dad is not correct, the child is in just as much danger as the mother was.
The voter turnout for this election is at an all time low this year with about 55% of voting age citizens participating. This year is the lowest the voting turnout has been since 1996. I think the reason behind the low turnout is the candidates just not appealing to the majority of voters. Most of the time, you have a clear view of who should win and know that your candidate pick would do a good job. This year, however, many citizens were torn and didn't see the good in either top candidate. I think this made many citizens just not want to vote for anyone. I believe that 2020 will have a bigger voter turnout with better candidates.
This is awful. custody of the child shouldn't even be an option. It is disgusting that rape culture is so high and on top of it the man who raped a women wants to act like he has a right to see that women and her child. I read an article about a women who was raped my isis and decided to keep her baby and i couldn't imagine going through that let alone having to deal with the man after its all said and done.

We are being divided by race, gender and religion once again and it is going to create serious issues if something doesn't change soon.
