This article by William S. Cohen and Gary Hart is questioning whether or not the election of Donald J. Trump as president will threaten NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Mr. Trump's proposal suggest calling everything NATO has done into question and "retreating into fortress America." Does this mean that America could start to become an isolationist nation? If Trump pulls out of the Paris Accord it would be a great blow to America's international credibility which could cause problems latter on.

  2. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/22/opinion/mexico-can-stand-up-to-trump.html?ref=opinion

This article by Mr. Jorge G. Castaneda is about how this is the first time since Ronald Reagan and the Soviet Union that an entire country has been made the center of attention. Mexico is trying to appease Trump but according to this article it doesn't have to it could make life miserable for Trump by increasing prices of all these Anti-Mexican things. My personal concern with that is how Trump would react. I don't want to see anyone deported especially not in the masses like Trump is suggesting but if Mexico resists would Trump respond with an act of war? Trump is also threatening Nafta (North American Free Trade Agreement). which would cause more harm to Mexico than it would America but this agreement has been maintained by 3 American Presidents, 5 Mexican Presidents and 6 Canadian Prime Ministers over the past 22 years. The debate to whether or not Mexico should fight back is in a gray area of life it's one of those things with no clearly defined right and wrong.

  3. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/11/24/jill-stein-raises-42m-fund-key-state-recounts/94403286/

This article discusses Jill Stein's efforts to raise money for a recount in certain states. Jill has raised over $4.4 million for this purpose, and plans on getting the close states that were won over by Trump to now be won by the Democratic candidate. Wisconsin for example, was surprisingly won by Trump and Jill now has enough money to conduct a recount. I personally think that a recount would have a significantly less amount of voters, which would make the results less accurate than the first one. Although the chances are low, Jill Stein could possibly change the outcome of the election.

    1. I think the money should go to something more beneficial. Not that this isn't important, but you aren't guaranteed that the results were hacked or anything, and personally I don't think a recount will do anything but remind Democrats how awful this election was for them. This money could be used for a lot more, and Jill Stein being the Green Party candidate she should know it could go to the environment or anything else to help America.

This article shows how easy it was for them to hack the voting results. They used a flash memory card to restart the voting machine, and was able to vote for the opposite candidate. This makes me wonder if people were doing this during the election and if the votes were accurate, especially in the states that were very close. If people knew about this before the election, how many people were doing this? If restarting the machine could change everyone's vote who has used it that day, that would be a lot of inaccurate votes.

    1. That is crazy! With all the new rights, and laws we expected the possibility of cheating pretty much impossible. Apparently there will always be a way to cheat. Always a way to make the votes unfair and rigged. This makes the democratic system useless. People voting for one thing, and in reality get another.

  5. http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/15/us/dakota-access-pipeline-army-corps-decision/index.html

This article is about the companies behind the building of the pipeline and how they feel construction should be finished because they have already got legal authorization to build it. Construction has been paused though because of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and many others across America have participated in protesting. This protesting has gone on for months because the pipeline runs through 4 states, it effects the tribes drinking water and environment, costs billions of dollars, AND it is being built on the tribes scared grounds. To me, it should not be finished. I think this is another example of how Native Americans are extremely mistreated in America, and I really feel it's time this country and the government defend them.

  6. http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/16/opinions/how-democrats-lost-opinion-zelizer/index.html

This article was written by Julian Zelizer, and is about her thoughts on democrats blaming others for their defeat. She states that democrats believe that they lost because Trump was elected because of the electoral college, and not by popular vote, which tends to be more important to most democrats. I am a democrat, and I agree with this statement. The president-to-be is supposedly decided by the people, but popular vote doesn't actually matter in the long run, like how it should be. Zelizer asks what democrats can learn from this campaign and how can we make a difference in future elections. I think we can do this by voting more and more! People need to understand that every vote counts and their voices will be heard!

    1. Although i don't think the electoral college is always fair, i do believe it is the best system possible so we might as well keep it. Trump didn't win because of the electoral college because when it comes down to it, he won fair and square. Because more of the American population voted for. If all the people who didn't vote of the VEP voted this would be a different election.

    2. I agree with Kyana. It isn't okay that all Democrats are becoming so hurt over the electoral college. The electoral college has been working for years and it isn't fair that this one time everyone is not being understanding. I wish Hillary would have won myself but Trump did win fair and square.

  7. I agree that democrats should stick to what they believe in. We are a country that is promoted to stand up for what they believe in, so how would that make us look if all of the democrats, went against their own beliefs, and sided with Trump? We have to fight to make a change, and have our voices be heard in this country.

  8. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/23/opinion/no-trump-we-cant-just-get-along.html
This article is about how Donald Trump is going back on what he said on the campaigning trail and is softening some of the harsh ideals that got him popularity and prospering on to being the president elect. The author is telling his views that just because Trump is changing his views now, it's still just as bad and disrespectful that he said these things or had these opinions in the first place. So he's basically saying he doesn't accept Trump's "apology". Although i agree Trump should have never made these statements, I just want the best for this country and it's people and hope in the end we're all equal and happy.

    1. Trump did say some crazy things and i don't think him going back on what he said will be good enough. But i mean if he isn't trying to do all those crazy ideas he had during the election then i guess america will be fine. And at the end of the day we all want whats best for everyone and the country. All we can do is hope that Trump doesnt do anything stupid while in office.

I feel like America is annoying and we need to get over the fact that Trump is going to be our president. Yes, I understand that I am a white person so it is a little bit different for me, but I am a women and I feel hurt when sexist things are said but it isn't all of America that is racist, etc. Also, America was just like this before Trump was elected trust me I saw it. America just needs to come together and work through these hard times, not keep complaining about them because nothing is actually happening. This article made me very angry for the simple fact that people keep complaining about things that aren't going to change...

  10. http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/25/politics/green-party-recount-wisconsin/index.html

This article by Tom LoBianco talked about the election. More specifically, people are spending millions of dollars in order to recount the voting numbers. Some people strongly believe that people hacked the system in order for Trump to win. They brought up Florida in the year 2000, where they had to recount and the difference was only 537 people. Its been over two weeks since the presidential election, and people are still not over it. People were so excited and anxious about that day because of all the drama, and politics. Everyone was tired of it, but now with the concerns about the voting numbers, It will still continue.

    1. I think that with the results of the recount, there will be people who are unhappy no matter what. If Trump still ends up being the winner, there will be Hillary supporters who will claim fraud, and likewise if Hillary wins. I think that no matter what happens, the controversy will continue

This article is about President Barack Obama leaving the White House. The author says that they will miss him and they go on to talk about all the good things about him and they will miss. I agree with the author I'm really going to miss obama i feel like he was such a good president. And I'm not the only one who will miss him, a larger part of the country will too. He honestly was such a good president i feel like he did a lot for our country. And i don't think Trump will be anything like him not even by a little. We will all miss obama these 8 years went by so fast.

  13. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/26/opinion/an-unimaginable-day-arrives-in-miami.html

This article is about the death of Fidel Castro. The author talks about how people are celebrating the death of this dictator. Citizens in the city of Miami were pouring out into the streets, banging pops and pans and cheering. However, there is more to it that just the celebrations. There are families who are still worried about those stuck on the island, and those who are mourning the deaths of those executed by Castro under his regime. The author says how these things are left out because it is harder for the media to dramatize and write about
