This morning there was an attack in Syria that is suspected to be one of the deadliest chemical attacks in the country in years. Dozens of people have been killed, and at least 10 of them were children and hundreds have been injured. 58 have already died, and it is estimated that the number of deaths will reach over 100. Also, the hospital that victims were being taken too was bombed. This is so heartbreaking and it sucks now that they can't even go to the hospital so they are helpless. Countries all across the world should be accepting children refugees, not refugees of all ages because we know many countries won't take them, but at least take children. It's so terrible that nothing is getting better in Syria after all this time, it's only getting worse. Countries should be worrying about saving them, not starting a war with them.
Wow. This is heartbreaking. I completely agree with you. I feel as if America, and every other country, should work on helping Syria out considering how sad this is. And yes, it is crazy how literally nothing is getting better. One time on Facebook i came across a video from a child's perspective in Syria and all of the bombings and leaving the good life, and starving, and being poor, etc. It is very sad and we are just sitting back watching. It is so mind blowing that I am stressed about this class and work and sleep yet there is war happening in another country and I do not have the shortest amount of time to look into it. I really enjoyed reading this and I am glad that you happened to be the only person to post so far, or I probably wouldn't have read this!
I agree that this is so heartbreaking and I wish that we could do more to help. I do not think that fighting countries like this help them. I see these videos all over social media and it truly breaks my heart to see t happen. I did not realize how many people in this country were affected and how much of an impact it made on these people. I wish the best for these countries and think that aid to these people are more important than fighting them.
I am actually extremely surprised that Trump wants to fight reducing pharmaceutical drug prices. This article goes into extreme detail of rising drug prices, but I wanted to the topic of rising drug prices in general. I agree that Americans should be offered affordable generic drugs. Not being able to take medication because of prices just seems so saddening. There are lots of people in poverty in desperate need for those drugs that do not have the option of buying so. The fact that Trump called it murder was neat considering he seems like a person to be on the other side of the spectrum, wanting more money. I like his view about murder though, that was interesting and let me open my eyes a bit.
I agree with you if medication prices are too high then some people wouldn't be able to afford it. Everyone should have access to good health and the medication they need to get there. I like that Trump is trying to help people out and this is the first thing I agree with that he is doing.
It's a good thing that Trump is fighting to lower the prices of medical drugs. However, if I'm not mistaken, he seems to like the idea of private businesses running healthcare programs, as opposed to a federal program like Obamacare. Typically private businesses have higher prices, so it's interesting to see trump oppose the rising of prices
In this article Mr. Dennis B. Ross is talking about how Trump wants to attack an air base in Syria. This could help America’s “street cred” so that other countries like North Korea and Iran will know that they need to take this administration seriously. They have decided not to use chemical weapons in this attack. Some people are asking whether or not this attack will really be worth it.
In this article Mr. Matt Flegenheimer is talking about how the democrats held together and filibustered Trump’s nominee to the supreme court so the republicans went nuclear and bypassed the democrats, because they hold the majority of the senate. There was a time when the senate believed that this nuclear option was completely out of the question but now the confirmation of Gorsuch is not even the first time it has been used. The filibuster by the democrats was ultimately pointless.
Its interesting to see them doing this. Everyone knows that Gorsuch is one of the best judges in this country. I think the Democratic senators are just pissed off, since the republicans had the majority, they did not want to appoint the 9th judge under Obama's administration. They confirmed him however, and now after these long weeks he will be the 9th judge.
This article talked about the horrible chemical attack that happened on the people of Syria. There are unexpected things that happen and it changes lives. Syria just changed Trump's presidency. A president and an administration who had advocated a hands-off policy in regards Syria was suddenly authorizing a military strike. This just makes the people of America and the president realize that you cannot plan everything. Certain things show up, and you have to go against your plan in order for things to get done. It is also interesting to see CNN tweeting how much each missile costs hinting that we spent millions of dollars on the strike. Sense when was the media concerned about government spending?
President Trump strikes Syria and the author of this article was against they thought it was wrong and i agree with them. I don't understand why he did it. Syria was already having problems they are harmless to us at the moment why strike them. Also this strike might cause some trouble for us with others. Due to his decisions so many innocent people died.
I disagree that Syria isn't harmless. They are very dangerous to America and many others countries. Maybe the citizens aren't, but I don't think that's what the point of this strike was. However, I do agree it was wrong. This wasn't the right time to strike and not the way to do it. I think a lot of problems involving other countries, like Russia, will come of this.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/07/us/nebraska-lgbt-foster-parents/index.html In the state of Nebraska the court strikes down the idea of not allowing homosexual couples adopt children. They compared it to when there where signs on doors saying whites only. The courts immediately denied this because it is unconstitutional and discriminating.
This article is about Trump setting off air strikes in Syria. He states that his goal is to destroy the islamic state. The article briefly cites the War Powers Resolution, saying that Trump's air strikes have now set off the 60 day period before Trump has to withdraw. Trump is going off of Obama's initiative in 2014 when the air strikes first began happening. The author mentioned that he is asking that the court reject the Obama Administration's reasoning for the air strikes. According to the article, Obama said that the authorization for Bush's attacks during 2001 and 2002 sufficed as approval for his own air strikes
im surprised that this is going so smoothly considering past events. I think its super cool that we got to do what they are doing right now. Hopefully these people are making decisions to help the country and now based off of party lines.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/07/politics/donald-trump-syria-evolution/ This article discusses the attack on Syria that president trump ordered a couple days ago. In the article, trump said that it is his responsibility to help these people because of all the horrid things he sees happening in that country. The article also said that this attack was not just planned within days, but was thought of for a period of time. I don't know if violence fixes other violence in this case. I just hope for the best for Syria and for our own country, since there is a lot of worry for our country going into a major war.
