This article is about the United Airlines having to take people off one of their flights because of overbooking the plane. The staff apparently needed seats so they began kicking random people off the plane. One of the people that they attempted to kick off was Dr. David Dao, but apparently he had to be forcibly dragged off the plane. The video shows security dragging him through the aisle by his arms while he loudly screamed for them to get off of him. United Airlines apologized for the incident and stated that it will "never happen again". I don't think it was fair to forcibly drag a man off a plane that he paid for, considering he said he had to be at the hospital in the morning for his job.
This is ridiculous. This should never happen. Innocent people should never be dragged off like animals anywhere. There were so many other ways they could have handled this situation like offering a better seat to the same location at a different time. There will be consequences for their actions.
I agree, this whole situation was just insane. Even if they did need some people to exit the plane, forcibly dragging someone off was not the answer. These should have just been some simple, non-violent way to handle this.
This article is about how the Justice Department will be taking further steps to up immigration prosecutions, and the Trump administration will be enforcing immigration laws more aggressively. They say they are taking these steps to stop "filth like gangs and criminal aliens." This will increase the cases of undocumented immigrants This is mostly meant to find smugglers and traffickers, and they found that cases of identity theft are rising among illegal immigrants. Sessions ordered that immigrants who have came here illegally twice after being deported once, or any who have participated in gang activity, be charged with a felony. In my opinion, this is what America needs. If we prosecute our own citizens this way then we need to do it for illegal immigrants too. However, I don't think coming here illegally should be a problem unless they have committed a crime. America should help the ones who are innocent and prosecute the others who aren't.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/12/opinion/david-souter-killed-the-filibuster.html?ref=opinion&_r=0 This article is about the death of the filibuster by Syrian air strikes. But the widespread wisdom was this was a fait accompli for after decades of Butter Battle Book style in wars. There was a minority veto too antiquated the pre-ideological to survive. It could have persisted if senate democrats played a longer game. But they voted n Neil Gorsuch the same as Robert Bork and Merrick Garland would be doomed after the filibuster hereafter. Given where were at now the wisdom was correct. Whether we should have ended up here is the harder question.
In this article Mr. Tom Cotton is talking about the president of Syria has again attacked his own people with poison gas. President Trump took swift action against Syria. Which has helped to restore credibility and deter future attacks. Cotton says that credibility had fallen low.
This article is about the American airstrike on a Syrian air force base. They wonder if what Trump did was legal. This article does not necessarily agree with what Trump did because of the debate of whether or not it was legal.
(Response to Lillian Moore) I agree with the point that America needs to be ensured safety against criminals that are both documented and undocumented. I feel like illegal criminals should be prosecuted just the same as any criminal that is a citizen in the United States. I also agree that people that come here illegally should not be prosecuted unless they are criminals, but should be helped to become a legal citizen. I still think that it should be easier for the people coming in our country to become citizens because I feel like it would encourage so many people to want to do it that way instead of risking arrest and jail time for coming in illegally. I think it is important to prosecute all criminals the same, legally here or not.
This article summarized of what happened in the last week regarding his commanding of our military arsenal. In just the last week, Trump the rookie commander in chief has presided over the use of some of the most powerful weaponry in the US arsenal. The purpose of this was to send a signal that he is one President who relishes ordering the use of deadly forces. First, Trump launched Tomahawk cruise missiles to slam into an airfield belonging to President Bashar al-Assad's Syrian government forces for the chemical attack on the Syrian people. Then after that the military dropped one of its most powerful non-nuclear bombs a 21,600-pound behemoth over a warren of ISIS tunnels in Afghanistan. Afghan officials said 36 militants were killed in the strike. He is showing the North Koreans that he is not afraid of using military power.
This article talks about the thought process behind the MOAB bombing in Afghanistan. General John Nicholson gave the order to use the bomb under his authority only; without consulting the President. Although, Trump explained that he gave our military full authority. Many people argue though that giving the military full discretion to use weapons as they please may cause many conflicts. On a different note, others say that using this MOAB bomb was to attack Isis was to just mask the fact that we were demonstrating our military power; this all could lead to war.
This will definitely start a war, and not just with Afghanistan. Other middle east countries already hate Trump, along with Russia and other strong countries that are allies with them. I don't think a war will put America's safety in danger, I just think it will hurt the economy because of the money the government would have to put into it. This is something I think America doesn't need right now and it sucks that there aren't many other options on how to deal with this, but on the other hand, something has to be done about Isis.
It's possible that Trump will escalate tensions with the entirety of the world, not just the middle east. China and Russia are powerful countries and probably have many allies too. Despite what Trump probably thinks, America could not hold its own against the world.
This article is talking about how the author thinks that trump was right to strike against Syria. Although Trump did a lot of things to demolish his credentials as a president, the author believes that Trump made the right decision to strike against Syria. He argues that Obama was wrong in being passive regarding his policy with Syria, and that taking action was the right thing to do. The author believes that even though Trump did not have clear legal grounding, he still made the right decision
