In this article Mr. Ron Berler is talking about how Trump's people have reached out to many "A" list performers such as Kayne West to perform at his inauguration. They were turned down be every single one of them. Now Trump is trying to cover up his being butt-hurt about it by being the tough guy. He tweeted that he didn't even want them to play anyway. But, if that were true then why reach out in the first place? Berler's band are now wondering if Trump's people will become so desperate that they will stumble across this old band from the '60s that only play once a year. If this band were asked to play at the ceremony they are conflicted because on one hand they if they say yes, it could practically relaunch their careers but support might be lost. On the other hand, if they say no, they could be labeled the "beacon of dignity" and gain support that way. Another thing that they are worried about is whether of not Trump will like them. I think that whether or not Trump likes them either way he shouldn't tweet about it. But, we all know that Trump would never be able to keep his big mouth shut, or his fat fingers still. Maybe Trump can just sing for himself ... he probably thinks that he has a lovely voice.
In this article Enrique Krauze is talking about how the Mexico and The US of A have been able to keep a relativity peaceful relationship for the past 200 years and few other countries sharing a border can say the same. But, this reputation has been tarnished by President-elect Trump's seemingly violent plan to deal with Mexico. Like how he wants Mexico to pay for the wall that he wants to build. Krauze speaks on all the major grievances that the US of A and Mexico have had in the past. Krauze tells about "fake news" that was circulated in the hopes of starting stuff with Mexico. I thought i would included the "fake news" bit since that's what we just talked about. :) Krauze also tells of how even through all of this Mexico never severed relations with America and yet, Trump is still acting the way that he is.
Trump has clearly disrupted what little peace was left. He is trying to make America great again but he is tearing America apart. Trump is a mean person and he will continue to be like that until he gets what he wants. Its sad that people will have to leave and wont be able to enjoy their life here anymore. He is tearing families apart and making Mexico pay for it. It is sick.
This article is about El Chapo's trial in Brooklyn next friday for conspiracy & drug charges. He is in a Manhattan prison with very strong security around it, and the Brooklyn bridge will be shut down while he is being transported to court. He is going to court for importing more than 264,000 pounds of cocaine to the US. He also faces charges in Texas, Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, and California, and if he is convicted of all these charges, he will never be given the death penalty. All he has to say about this all is that, the day he doesn't exist, the drugs will not decrease in any way. I think that if he just being charged for drugs, he should not receive the death penalty. But if they look into the Sinaloa cartel, which is where he does all of this, then I think it should definitely be an option. Many people are kidnapped, murdered, and raped in this cartel and it is all run by him. Plus he keeps escaping so something needs to be done, but for drug charges, there should be no death penalty. Also, he should just stay in an American prison because it seems like Mexican prisons don't have as much security as the US.
I read articles about El Chapo's trial as well and personally don't see a correlation between the trial and Trump's inauguration. I am glad that El Chapo is officially being charged in the United States considering he escaped everywhere else. I am hopeful that he will not be able to escape again under U.S security. I also read that we agreed not to give the death penalty because Mexico does not believe in it.
In my opinion, it's sort of immature for people to care so much about who is performing and who isn't. It doesn't really matter, & Trump wasn't even the one that reached out to them, it was his people, right? They plan who performs, not him, so maybe that's why he was complaining. And if the band hasn't performed yet, no one can say he's going to tweet about how he doesn't like them. He probably won't because if they're there, they are still supporting him whether he likes them or not. Plus, he usually tweets about people who reject him, so the only reason he would tweet about them, in a negative way, is if they didn't come.
I agree with you. I don't really see the big deal of who performs at the inauguration, and neither should Donald Trump. He got what he wanted, and the people who perform won't change anything. The point of inauguration day is to invite a new president in office, not the artists performing.
This article, posted by The Guardian talks about the protests that took place today before and after Donald Trumps inauguration. There is a video attached to the article that shows protesters throwing projectiles at the police, and downtown buildings and businesses in attempt of displaying some kind of revoke to Trump being inaugurated. It has bee stated that at least 95 people have been arrested as these violent protests broke out. In the video, you can also see police pushing, and spraying protesters with pepper spay. The protesters, wearing all black were chanting "This is what a police state looks like," and "you're protecting fascists." I think protesting is always a good way to try and get your point across, but should never turn violent. The protesters destroyed and committed acts of domestic violence on local businesses that had nothing to do with the inauguration, which isn't okay. If what the protesters wanted was to get their voices across, then they achieved their goals.
This is rediculous. In the last couple of months there have been so many violent protests. I agree with you, there is nothing wrong with protests and stating what you believe in, but when it turns into a riot, people destroying private and public property its just ridiculous. They are just trashing the house that the live in. There is just no need for that.
I think that it's great to express your opinion, you shouldn't stand by and just let something slide that you don't like. But you don't need to commit violence, especially against those who had never done you wrong. Not only do you inflict damage among others, you also lessen yourself in the eyes of the public because you turned to violent methods
I think it is ridiculous to destroy a city to protest. I don't think it ever solves the actual problems and just makes the protesters look bad. Protesting should always be peaceful, nobody will change anything for you if you hurt innocent people in efforts for the change.
This article talked about the inauguration of Donald J. Trump. His arrival to Washington and the speech that he made. In his speech, he said that no one will be ignored again. Former presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton attended the inauguration as well. Trump said it was an honor for Trump that Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Millions of Americans are also anxious, owing to the aggressive tone of Trump's campaign and fears over the consequences of his strongman leadership style.
While I couldn't watch the entire inauguration considering there was class, I did watch parts of it live. All I can say is that yes American's are going to be extremely nervous because they still want to think this is all a bad joke, Trump is not even a politician and he talked about the wall for a good moment during the speech. Also, trending on twitter, there are pictures from Obama's inauguration from 2008 and 2013 and from Trump's and the crowd size difference is tremendous. It feel like America finally fell apart from all of this and no one ever saw this coming. It is so sad to see Obama gone and to see his twitter handle change from "POTUS" to "POTUS44". It just seems unfair and it is upsetting. Miss Obama already.
This article was written by someone who made a tweet relating to Obama's final speech. The author was an Asian-American man who made a joke about Obama being the first Asian-American President, even though he is African-American. He made this joke because Obama let his daughter, Sasha, skip his speech in order to take an important test and there is a stereotype that Asian's care more about school than anything else. Some people made quick concerns and tweeted the author back in order to correct him and some people were extremely angry. I personally do not think it is anything but a harmless joke and it should not be taken offensively. There are more important things to worry about right now, this shouldn't be such a big deal.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/20/us/el-chapo-guzman-extradition/index.html El Chapo was recently accused of running one of the worlds largest drug rings. This is what he is most known for which is why its so funny that he pleaded not guilty. Despite the drug ring and the crimes he has committed El Chapo will not be facing the death penalty. at least not in the US.
In this article, the author is asking whether Trump is really ready to be president. Normally, after the campaign, the president dials it back a bit, working to reunite the public with promises and healing words. However, trump has continued acting like he always has. The author references polls that show that Trump was the least popular president elect, to which trump lashed out against, claiming the polls were rigged. Normally, the president and his cabinet are informed and experienced public officials, but donald trump's cabinet is not that
i don't think that Trump is ready, at all, to be president. He is too immature and ignorant, and lacks knowledge in politics. Trump was chosen by the system, not by the public.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/19/politics/trump-inauguration-protests-womens-march/index.html I think that it is so great that these protesters are standing up for what they believe. There's nothing wrong with protesting, in fact they have the right to do it. However, there is no reason to get violent. There's no reason for anyone to get hurt. I completely understand that there people are outraged by this event but it won't fix anything by damaging private or public.
I agree that they should stand up for what they believe in but at the same time its kind of stupid. I don't think having a protest will change the fact that the president of the United States is now Donald Trump. They should just go save their energy and time on something more important.
This article discusses how protesters became violent during Trump's inauguration. Over two hundred people were arrested and six police officers were injured. The protest turning this violent opens your eyes to how angered people are over the current events in this country. Although at the same time, I feel like using destruction and violence is no way to fix anything.
