This article tells about how Obama's act to let illegal immigration happen, kind of blew up in his face. There is a 26-state lawsuit on this act. The article states " judge Hanen has spoken out aggressively against Mr. Obama’s immigration policy in the past, saying it “endangers America” and is “an open invitation to the most dangerous criminals in society.” I both agree and disagree with this. In certain ways this has and still could endanger America. Also, not all illegal immigrants are criminals . some of them just want to be free & safe.

The government is trying to make a stronger freedom of information act. I think that this should be allowed. its giving journalist and the government to access certain federal files. If there isn't something to hide within the federal government, why should this be a problem. The article states "Both the Senate and the House have bills pending that would put into law a “presumption of openness” and a rule against withholding information absent “foreseeable harm” to protected government interests." I think that the presumption of openness could be a very good thing.

Obama being our first African American president was a amazing thing across the country and he was hopefully the beginning of African American presidents in the U.S. but, are we going to remember him for the right reasons? Did we already forget the Bengazi incident and the many other scandals and things he was in that cost people their lives? Its like any famous person, you only remember the good they did, never the bad.

Pretty much anyone can obtain a gun licence but to allow these guns to be carried with the persons at any time and across the country? I don't think so. They should leave that to police officers. By allowing people to carry their guns with them whenever they want you are simply asking for trouble. I fear we will have a greater percentage of gun related incidents.

    1. I get what your saying Asia, but until there is a change in who can become a police officer, people can't feel safe anymore. I think there should also be stricer requirments in who can obtain guns.

    2. I agree with Jamal. I think that the people that aim to get the permits/licenses to conceal the weapons around in public are most likely to be responsible people rather than a person is carrying a weapon just in general. there's a bit of a difference of an individual who knows what they're doing versus an individual who roams the streets carrying a gun.

In this article, the author writes about a bill going through the Florida legislature that would push back the Florida primary two weeks, possibly benefiting Republican Presidential candidate Jeb Bush. The author explains that this could help Bush because it would turn the GOP primary in Florida into a winner-take-all election. As Florida is Bush’s home state, he would likely win it, thus taking more delegates than if it was a proportional system. I find it interesting that a state government could actually influence the primaries like this, and wonder how often this type of thing occurs elsewhere.

  6. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/02/20/obama-administration-sent-800000-healthcaregov-customers-wrong-tax-info/
In this article, the author details yet another hiccup with Obamacare’s healthcare.gov site. 800,000 people were sent incorrect tax forms through the site and have been asked to hold off on filing their taxes for a few weeks. Those that had already filed will likely have to do it again because of the error. While I don’t think this will have the kind of negative effect on peoples’ wallets that is described by the author, it is certainly another blow to the infrastructure of President Obama’s healthcare plan. As this website continues to suffer problem after problem, it is hard to argue why so many Americans have been less than pleased with Obamacare.

    1. People have had problems with obamacare since it started, for many reasons. This shines a little bit of light on it, and opens up room for more argument. I'm surprised the whole thing hasn't been taken away yet. All these problems won't have too much of an effect, but it's obviously going to be a pain and a waste of more time

  7. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/20/opinion/the-plot-to-kill-health-care.html?ref=opinion&_r=0
Republicans are relying on activist judges, judges who are willing to upset the lives of millions of people just to further a political cause, to kill health care. In less than two weeks the Supreme court will hear the oral arguments King v. Burwell, a campaign to kill Obama care. Health care professionals are saying that if successful the result could be catastrophic. There are at least four justices that the author says " Would rule in favor of a ham sandwich, if it meant overturning the health care law." If they get a fifth, more than eight million people in 34 states could lose their health coverage. I think this is ridiculous because most of the people recently benefiting the most from this healthcare are lower or middle-income whites, working part or full time, living in the south, so it's not like Republicans are looking to help their constituents. I don't even understand the big deal about health care, isn't some better than nothing?

    1. Obama care was done from the moment it started. Big government. The government is trying to stick there heads in a place they don't belong. A ton of people don't want Obama care and want to use there own health insurance. However now they have to pay increased taxes and even if they aren't using it. Another thing. Why should Obama care cover people who have been dropped by insurance agencies because they don't live heathy lives. so the people who make messed up decisions with drugs and alcohol we have to pay for because the issuance companies realized that they are too expensive. I'm rooting for the supreme court to tell Obama to get lost.

Congress has passed a bill on to the president that commands the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada. According to the author it is an easy decision to make. The president should obviously veto the bill and ignore any other threats John Boehner makes. The pipeline would cross country borders and so it's not his decision to make. The pipeline would create 3900 more jobs for about 2 years, but after construction, it would only provide about 50. So this pipeline isn't essential for creating jobs, it's terrible for the environment, enhancing global warming, and we as a country don't even need the extra oil. We are actually doing a lot better. So I agree with the author, President Obama should just veto and continue about his business.

Obama sent a letter to congress requesting permission to send ground forces to take care of ISIS threats. He isn't one to do this, and it's a very important decision. I think it's safe to say he made the right one as well. He wasn't a fan of troops in Iraq when he was first elected to office, and I think it's a bit of a shock, but the right decision to ask for permission in this situation.

This article talks about another police involved murder. This one was in pasco, Washington and it was over some rocks. I saw part of the video and it shows Zambrano-Montes running away then turning around with his hands up only to be shot 15 times by three officers. There has to be a change to stop all of these innocent murders.

With all the support that has been proven with this law shows that is the best thing for Congress to work on. 81% of America is graduating high school and the gap between minorities and whites are lessening . I don't understand why the no child left behind program is any reason to give up on education.

With as much money as Clinton is bringing in it is only right to give back. His wife is planning on running so it's been rumored, if he wants to support her he should try proving himself as well as his family. Also, it's just human kindness in my opinion , he represented the country and even out of office he should set an example.

I find this to be very unsettling. I mean there are terrorist groups threatening to attack places in the US now. I mean they are sending mix messages, one official says we should just be careful, then another official says that its okay there weren't any direct threats to the mall, but that the FBI was working with several malls to increase and better security. I find this interesting, I never knew that the US killed a Somali terrorist group leader last year. Its crazy to think because I mean a year ago, we were so worried about ISIS, and Ebola. very interesting how the media stretches stories to make them sound bigger than others.

    1. It blows my mind as well how much the media can change our focus on different topics and issues. I think that anyone in the US finds ISIS very frightening and even bringing up the topic is uncomfortable. I think that even though there arent direct threats we should still be cautious and increase security, especially in very public places.

    2. I agree with you. We should do something to stop ISIS. They seam to really want dislike us and want us to fall to their feet. I think it's interesting to how I never knew about the leader being killed. It is true or news outlets do pick and choice what stories they want to show us. Like how you said Ebola isn't even in the news anymore. Although it was the only thing in the new for a good time. I feel like medias shouldn't be like that.

  13. William Dehayes, last July was practicing gun slinging when he accidentally fired the gun. The firearm shot Katherine Hoover, Williams friends wife right in the temple. Mrs Hoover was five months pregnant at the time. The medics got there and brought Hoover to the hospital in the hopes to save the mother and the child. Sadly both died. Medical examiners ruled the deaths as homicides, but no charges are filed against William. According to the Daily Beast William clear feels very bad about what happened, in an interview with the local sheriff, he said "I haven't slept in three days trying to figure out how the gun went off". This is a clear example of stupidity at its finest

  14. Saturday February 14th, a cafe in Copenhagen hosting a debate on free speech sparked by Lars Vilks who is a famous cartoonist who portrayed Mohammad as a dog. A gunman opened fire in the cafe killing one man, injuring three police before fleeing the scene. Later the gunman was spotted outside a synagogue where he shot and killed a Jewish volunteer. While fleeing he also injured two more people. This created a city wide manhunt for the gunman. At about five in the morning the gunman was spotted by police and shot dead. The gunman was later identified as Omar El-Hussein a 22 year old Danish born Muslim. Omar has been suspected of being a supporter of the Islamic State Militant Group. The city is still in the midst of the aftermath.

I've blogged about the No Child Left Behind Act before but I think that it is a very important act and its important to discuss. The article says that earlier this month, the nations graduation rate hit 81% which is the highest percent ever. However, there are struggling children and this act is very important! We can always keep improving.

  16. I think that the No Child Left Behind Act is a really good thing to do. Although in the past I noticed some flaws in the system. I noticed that in seventh grade some of our students suffered of boredom. While it is necessary to make sure all students are getting the same learning experience, we also need to be aware that other students are more prepared and ready for harder materials. This is where the issues remain, do we start doing positioning tests, or placing students based on the state standardized tests that way classes move along smoother, or do we allow some students to fall behind while others are bored twiddling their thumbs in class?

    1. No child left behind is the worst thing known to education. To child left behind means that they have lowered the standard of what is taught to students. Some schools have massive amounts of resources and should have a harder academic load because they can help there students more. However no child left behind standardizes everything and thats bad. For the more advanced students they just leave them out to dry. Were is the system to help the people who are more advanced than others. We just screw them over. That person could develop the next Facebook ,but never do it because they never got to be in a room filled with other advanced students. We need to do something for the smarter side of america.

  17. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/22/opinion/sunday/nicholas-kristof-straight-talk-for-white-men.html?ref=opinion

This article talks about how people don't realize the things that we do based on what our surroundings are doing. It talks about how we are more likely to but something when we listen to music that relates to that. Just how men don't realize that even today we aren't equal. Women know that men sort of hold the pants in the house, not always, but usually. I believe that we basically assume that everything is equal (we as in whites) because we are white, however maybe if I were another race I would see the inequality a little bit more.

    1. I agree with you Kaylah. Not only in race but I think sexual preference as well holds an impact. People who like people of the opposite gender don't see what gay/bisexual people have to face. For example gay people arnt allowed to marry their loved ones on some places. So here we see inequality among people based simply on who one person loves. While the people who can get married may not see this as a problem the people who can't do. I liked that you pointed out the men thing. Women in America still have lower wages then men. Many men may not know this so they don't realize they just assume everything Is equal.

This article talks about ISISs threat to attack the mall of America and other malls in North America. In my opinion I think that we shouldn't take this as a joke a take it very seriously. ISIS is bringing to threaten us more and more. And we can't just stand around and wait until they do attack us. So I think that we should somehow find a way to stop them or make them weaker. ISIS has bean growing and we can't allow that to happen. Them targets such a big mall shows they want to do big harm to is. So like I said we need to do something before it's to late.

I hope Obama decides to help win back the city. It's would show ISIS that we arnt going to stand by as they cause harm time and time again. It'll also probably hurt them in the size of their control making them weaker which is also a good thing. And we should do this not only to help the foreign countries but the show ISIS they can't threaten us and not expect something in return. In another article I read they said they may attack the mall of America. So they are wanting to hurt us drastically. So it'll show them that they won't easily get through us.
