While the author does not completely take a stand against the executive action, her point about the precedence this would set is most important. Regardless of what your opinion on immigration is, the idea that the President could make such an action justified by the fact that he thinks a law is wrong, is scary. As the author alludes in the final sentence, it will be interesting to see how much public backlash there is against this very controversial issue.
This is a big deal throughout the country. Since Obama is going to be retiring from office in a short two years he is trying to get as much done for the Democratic party as he can . Since the republican party is coming into power Obama is a having a power struggle. So once Obama puts the immigration executive order in place there will be a ton of back lash from both sides of the government.
I guess i understand why Obama is trying to do so much to help the Democratic Party. What i don't understand is why what he is doing could hurt so many people, but he doesn't care about that. Since Republicans took the office he doesn't seem to care about how this could affect us later on. I agree that there will be a tone of back lash from both sides of the government. I just hope some of the issues that are going through the government don't start government shut downs again.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/22/opinion/the-impeachment-of-obama-on-immigration-may-be-legal-but-its-wrong.html?ref=opinion In this article, the author draws up an argument that justifies the impeachment of President Obama, being sure to articulate that he is writing hypothetically, not in support of impeaching the President. He writes that Congress would be justified historically and in the context of President Obama’s executive action to impeach him, but that it is not a good idea. I agree with the author that it would not be a good idea to try and impeach the President, especially because he is in the waning years of his presidency. If the GOP were to try and impeach him, the long, drawn out process could leave a stale taste in the mouths of voters, leading right into election time. Republicans’ best strategy is to throw everything they have at the 2016 presidential election, aiming for a united government where real change could be made.
Cheers to our government with dealing with our economy. When will America be in a place in which we can stand on our own two feet and not depend as much on other nations money and resources? It seems like such a distant, silly idea because of how bad our economy is now. If we continue on the route were now, America may not be so great in the future years to come.
America is the place of opportunity to many people in other countries and regions and yet we rely on other countries and regions to help us stand and function? It's weird to think about it, but I don't think things will ever even out. We will always be in debt and we will always need other countries' support. We aren't always going to have everything we need. And I agree, things will get worse if we continue on the path that we are on. Resources are wasted and people continue to shove ideas into the world. It might eventually overflow.
although American seems like the country that has it all, America still needs recourse from other countries. I think the economic could be much better if countries instead of trading goods with money, what if countries can trade with each other whenever they need something, help one another. Every country owes to one another. What if the countries take off the amount of money they owe the other country. And with the rest of the money the government could ask the people for corporation and help pay off the debts.
This article talked about the justification behind the horrific outbreak in St. Louis after the shooting of a young African American male. The article revealed that African American men are 21 times more likely to be shot and killed by law enforcement than a white male. These statistics are sad, and it doesn't surprise me and the verdict does not surprise me. The article talked about how in recent years, shootings like this are a horror to parents from coast to coast, and that things like this are going to happen, and riots are going to be a probable result. It's crazy to think about all the different cases that have sounded similar to this in te recent years and how fast everyone in social media, on the news, and and in public in general started talking and putting in arguments against or for it. Society is still extremely racist and it always will be. People will think what they want to think and there will be fights, riots, meetings, and deaths because of it. Sad, but there is nothing we can do about it.
This really does happen way too often and this has to be stopped. Although we can't stop ignorant people from being racist, we can handle what happens to those who kill innocent people. The officer that killed Mike brown is walking the streets as a free man right now. And that's why there is all this out rage.
althought i am going to get yelled at for siding on the other side. i disagree. although i agree there are many gaps and problems in the three branches. i feel like the verdict came out to be fair. theirs been this gap of racism in society. and for a white officer to shoot down a black teenager on the dangerous streets of ferguson. it makes the white officer a target. i honestly think this has become worse than the slavery times because now, its not just one side fighting, both sides throw punches. both sides get an equal effect.
http://mobile.nytimes.com/2014/11/26/opinion/the-meaning-of-the-ferguson-riots.html The Ferguson case is very tricky. Since Mike Brown was African American the country wants to point at the fact that it was a discrimination issue rather than self defense. Statistics can Back up a lot of accusations in this case., but those statistics aren't going to fit into every situation. If the evidence announced last night was 100% accurate than I don't understand how Missouri could become so corrupt. Yes he was young, yes he was loved by Ferguson, and yes he was black, but facts are facts. I don't think the rioters understood everything as a whole. Some just know that their friend or loved one was shot so there angry, and racism is an easy target to fall back on and accuse officer Wilson of. Ferguson needs to understand that Mike Brown was a theft and brought all of this onto himself. The investigators on this case interviewed multiple people whom kept consistent stories that Mike physically came in contact with Wilson and came charging at him to clearly hurt him. Cops are trained to deal with these situations that best fit their safety and those around them.
I agree with you that Ferguson rioters probably don't understand everything and all the facts. And I do think that the riots aren't accomplishing anything and people are just angry, but I think it would be a bit harsh to say that Mike brought all of this on himself. I understand that he was attacking the cop, but he shouldn't have been shot, it wasn't all his fault. I mean, an armed man went into a movie theater and shot up the place, killing innocent people, and he was still only arrested. I don't think this whole situation is Mike's fault, it might be partially, but I think he is a victim in an unfortunate society, and we are all just have to deal with it.
According to this editorial, the United Nations is finally addressing the situation in North Korea by voting to condemn their government for human rights abuses, the General Assembly is expected to do the same and then pass the issue to the Security Council. The only problem with that would be is that Russia and China, two allies of North Korea, could veto. North Korea first tried to prevent the committee vote by releasing three Americans held in its prisons; by telling the Chinese and Russians that it is open to nuclear talks with the United States, Japan and South Korea; by hinting at possibly allowing a special United Nations investigator to visit for the first time; and by sending an envoy to Moscow to improve relations with Russia. But this didn't work and they went back to making a bunch of crazy threats, which I find hilarious. I think it's comforting to know that something is being done and hopefully the people living there will be free one day.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/26/us/amid-violence-ferguson-police-react-with-restraint-not-shown-after-august-killing.html?ref=us The ferguson police officers faced these riots a lot better than those back in August. There were no deaths this time around that I am aware of. These officers are facing a tough task controlling these violent protesters. The demonstrations are violent and the protesters are destroying businesses. Businesses that people worked hard to build. Protests should be peaceful. You can't answer violence with violence.
This article makes me sick. I don't understand why we treat people so differently, we are all human.. the article says "Although the American Red Cross regularly warns that the national blood supply is too low, the Food and Drug Administration arbitrarily excludes a slice of the population from becoming a donor. Any man who has had sex with another man since 1977 is “deferred” — a euphemism for “banned ” since the deferral lasts a lifetime." My question is why is this allowed? It is our own life. and we should be free to live it how we want.
I think this might have been put in place when the aid epidemic broke out and everyone began associating it with gay people. It is wrong to do that especially since giving blood is a great thing to do when others need it. It's a terrible wrong to associate aids with a specific group of people. Don't they check for impurities in the blood before they use it anyway? Why single them out?
This is an article/video about a twelve year old Cleveland boy being shot and killed by a police officer. The boy had a BB gun that was mistaken for a real gun. At the time the police arrived he was shot within 5 seconds. At the time they arrived there was nobody at the park but the boy himself. From what I saw and read the police once again have over reacted and now another male black youth has died. The video is in the link based on the evidence what do you guys think?
I agree with you that it is wrong. Clearly it’s a tricky situation but why would he pull out a BB gun? No matter how old a person is, if a police officer sees some sort of gun his natural instinct is to react. As a police officer you have to protect your coworkers and yourself. Police officers put themselves into danger each and every day and I’m pretty sure part of training is learning how to react. My opinion is that it is VERY sad a young boys life was lost but why did he have to pull out a BB gun in that situation. The cop has to deal with this guilt for the rest of his life and I think that’s enough punishment..
I agree with you Chris. I think that it is very sad that this kid died by the hand of people that were sworn to protect. However, I do not think that race has anything to do with this issue. I think that it is a horriable tragedy but I do not think the intentions were racist. Same with the similar cases like Zimmerman.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/nov/27/islamic-state-opening-front-in-north-africa/ It's very scary to think ISIS is looking to expand not only in members but territory. Although from what this article has stated, they have not been successful. So apparently, the same people that were on Bin Ladens side, are the ones that the leader of ISIS is attempting to recruit, although due to loyalty, they refuse. So I think people are over estimating how much power this group has. Also, I don't believe in the fear of ISIS trying to draw territory in Africa, leading to territory in America.
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/28/opinion/remember-the-sand-creek-massacre.html?ref=opinion&_r=0 This article is about the tragic events of the Sand Creek Massacre. The 150th anniversary is coming up and it is being recognized for all of the lives that were lost. The colonists killed innocent woman and children in a peaceful village and were definitely at wrong. Although this happened in the 1800s it doesn’t need to be forgot about. Sometimes it feels as if we talk about the wrong decisions other countries have made but “forget” about our own. I’m glad that the lives are being remembered and that more people are learning about our history, the good and bad side because whether we like it or not it did happen and we do have to face it.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/27/world/americas/mexico-guerrero-bodies/index.html?c=world&page=0 This article makes me hope the Mexico's president is actually trying to do something for the country. Mexico needs a serious change. I think it's sickening that there is a possibility that a mayor hired the police to kidnap the teachers. Then turn them over to get killed. This is saddening that the police which are supposed to be the people that protect would allow them selfs to go bad and do something such as that. Especially to teachers who are people who help kids to become educated so that they will be something. I think a 911 system will be very good. That should be something all countries should have. Hopefully that will bring down the violence. Mexico is in need of change. Hopefully God will help so that the countries will get better.
i really like this article because this basically this gives me more of a reason to ramble . ben carson, a black conservative activist, basically calls out obama for being the reason of a rise in racial profile in the country. which i totally agree upon with him. since obama has gone through his term, it seems like all hes focused on this past fews are about racism. everything is about racial profiling. he focuses on the minor group and makes them feel like society is attacking them and that theyre victims of something that doesnt exsist. which in the end causes stuff like what happened after the verdict of mike browns murderer. it led to riots and chaos.
As usual bad stuff is happening everywhere in the world. So what else is new? This time it's that the economy is bad everywhere and nobody really has any money. This is all well and good as long as you live in America where we don't care about the rest of the world unless we're bombing them or if we owe them money and even then we only care a little bit. The people don't care, the companies don't care, and even the government doesn't care. But maybe they should. This global economic downturn has cast a shadow so to speak on America as well. We're by no means immune to the fiscal disease that plagues the remainder of the world and we certainly can't afford to act like it if recent trends continue.
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/11/28/opec-keeps-oil-output-steady-despite-falling-prices/ This article is about the cheap prices in gas. This is due to a creation of shale oil. I think this is great for the consumer due to the cheap prices they are getting. Nobody will complain about it because it's cheaper in gas prices. It's been the cheapest it's been in a couple of years. So that's great. Although it says that maybe the gas companies may be affected badly due to cheap prices. Which can be understood because of how people want cheap. I think it good since we are getting or own resource. But I hope we can start finding more renewable resources. It's better for the planet which is something we all need to worry about. But it's great they for now have found cheaper things.

I think it good since we are getting or own resource. But I hope we can start finding more renewable resources. It's better for the planet which is something we all need to worry about. But it's great they for now have found cheaper things.
