Republican Scott Brown has officially kicked off his campaign for the U.S. Senate for the state of New Hampshire. He is quoted with saying "I am running to be a true independent voice for the people of New Hampshire." He hammered the current democratic incumbent for their support on Obamacare. Brown said he is running to challenge the establishment and set the country back on its course.

    1. i Think that scott Brown has some good ideas but so does every candidate that runs. Ithink that he really needs to do what he says he will do. Another thing is that every person that runs says that they are going to speak for the people, but do they? or do they speak their own opinoins. I think tha what this country needs are good representatives that are highly educated on the best way to run a contry. not a bunch of popular people.

    2. I agree, this sounds nice but will he really keep his promises? It seems like these are the same promises that all politicians make in order to get elected. I think Garrett is right, we need to see action from our elected officials, not just a bunch of the same empty promises. It is easy to tell people what they want to hear but a lot of harder to actually do what is needed for them.

    3. Honestly, sounds like another "Elect me and all of the above will happen, but in actuality, they won't." speech. Sure, he can promise all he wants to the public, calling for reform from our ways and to break away from big government, but we'll see what the rest of Congress has to say to that.

As tax season is coming up the wealthy are starting to take notice of how much more they are having to pay this year compared to two years ago. The top tax rate has been raised to 39.6% from 26% in 2012. The top 1% of earners will pay an estimated average of $670,000 this year on taxes. The top 0.1% are looking at a $2.6 million dollar tax burden. Overall it is expected though since the the top 1% have started earning a larger income as well. Their expected average tax rate is up to 33.4% for 2014 taxes. The top 5% of taxpayers now pay an estimated 29.8% of federal taxes.

    1. I'm glad the wealthier people have had to pay higher taxes. The middle class have had to deal with high rises in taxes almost every year. The wealthy can afford the raises in their taxes. They may have a little more sway when it comes to policies, but they should still get treated the same as the middle class.

      Delete
    2. Sweet. The wealthy should have to pay higher taxes. If they were to pay anything lower they'd be hoarding their wealth. Considering the gap between classes it's only fair that the wealthy have such overwhelmingly high amounts to pay in taxes.

    3. I think some wealthy people are selfish. I am not talking about those who "work hard for their money" but those who make money off of everyone else, and yes I am referring to celebrities. I think that those in the middle class work hard and don't see that much appreciation from the government. By the tax increase for the upper class it should help make it easier for those in the lower classes to handle their taxes. I would feel selfish if I had massive amounts of money I would help others struggling anyway I could. I would rather not be rich knowing I helped many others live a comfortable life.

    4. i agree with everyone else that the wealthier should have to pay more. They have alot more money to play with that the middle class people. Why should that upper class pay less and middle class pay more? they shouldnt. Ithink that the wealthier should be the ones to contribute to make the economy stronger instead of their own pockets. Bill and laura gates have been doing a bunch of charity work latly and he said in a statement that he wants to give back the money he made from windows to the needy. I think thats swell!

    5. Wealthier people should not have to pay a higher percentage of taxes then everyone else. If you want equality then every should pay and equal flat percentage tax. Wealthier people pay more than poor people if you base it off a percentage anyway if someone makes $10,000 a year versus $100,000 and you have a ten percent tax then the first guy pays $1,000 and the second pays $10,000. That is an equal proportion of funds to the government, so that everything is fair. Just because someone makes more does not mean they should pay a higher percentage, the same goes for if someone makes less then they shouldn't pay a lower percentage.

    6. I believe that the more money you make the more taxes you should pay, If you are wealthy you should have to pay more than someone who isn't as wealthy as you are. I think the government should equal it out between how much a person makes, if someone is poor the shouldn't have to pay that much. Middle class people should have to pay somewhere in between.

    7. In my opinion they should have to pay a higher tax rate than those who make less money, but I also think that with this happening the government work on distributing the wealth better. They should use the extra tax payer money to fight poverty and poorest people rather than just use it for there interests. The top 1 percent should not have as much money as the other 99 percent.

    8. I think that the new raise in tax for the wealthy is more proportional. The wealthy have way more income than lower classes and way more influence due to being an elite. They should have to pay proportional to their wealth due to this. It is surprising that the top 5% pay about 30% of federal taxes though.

    9. In my opinion, there should be certain exceptions when it comes to paying a larger amount of taxes in proportion to your income. If you spent your life making your millions through hard work and dedication, and the money you have are the fruits of your labor, by all means keep them, but if Joe Nobody wins the lotto because he got lucky, he shouldn't be treated like Bill Gates.

  3. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/john-mccain-us-should-arm-ukraine-impose-more-sanctions-on-russia/ This article is about McCain saying the US should send weapons and arms to Ukraine. It says Kiev feels abandoned since Russia is still formenting there. I don't think that the US should get involved. The US has put its fingers in every other country's business and it has cost us a great deal. The US needs to focus on fixing the problems here, before it can begin really helping and fixing problems in other countries.

    1. I completely agree. I think we should be focusing on the strength of our country instead of getting involved in others. I understand the need to still support other countries if we need their help in the future, but we shouldn't be sending military and resources to Ukraine. There are other ways to show support while still focusing on the needs of our country.

    2. I do not think the US should get involved at all. This is another one of those cases that are none of our business but we get involved anyway. I do not think the US should get involved unless there are any kind genocide or brutality and since there isn’t any, it is none of our business.

      Delete
    3. I agree that the US should not get involved. This is because if we do just keep on getting involved in different problems around the world, then we would just have more and more attention and tension. The opposing countries would have more to fight about if we do get involved.

    4. We should not get involved, this situation has to be dealt within Ukraine and Russia. If other people start to get involved then it gets to complicated. If Ukraine wants to be free from Russia they should fight for it, other countries did at the fall of the Soviet Union. We need to just keep to ourselves and mind our own business.

      Delete
    5. I dont think we should get involved either, every time we get into another country's business it goes wrong. It always causes problems, I think the US needs to worry more about our own country instead of other countries.

      Delete
    6. America needs to stay out of things that aren't started with them. Even though we never will. America is always the ones that are there to help everyone else out and screw ourselves over. Look at our debt.

      Delete
    7. I think it would be a mistake to get involved all by ourselves. This should be something that the European Union handles or NATO. Our allies in Europe have more at stake in this than we do. Any actions taken should be worked through them with America in just a supporting role. We do not need to be in the lead for every world crisis.

    8. Why do we need to try and continue to get ourselves into trouble? Also Last time we armed people of a another country, it backfired after they used it against us later on, being the radical organization they were. We need to worry about ourselves and OUR own citizens. We can let other countries have a hand in this, we need t stay out.

Well, this is sort of funny. This article is on how Clinton shook JFK's hand a long time ago and people think that ever since JFK has died, that Clinton would be scared of his "ghost". On the 30th anniversary of Kennedy's death, Clinton's aides did not want him to have any meetings or do anything that would involve Kennedy, but i think that if Clinton really was "scared" we probably would have said something about JFK being dead for 30 years now.

    1. yeah lets get something straight, Bill Clinton ain't afraid of nothin'. Growing up in Hope, Arkansas made him a strong man and such things don't frighten a man of his stature. Honestly though if JFK had a ghost, i think he would have better things to do than scare Bill Clinton. His ghost is probably in the club right now or fighting terrorists in his spooky form.

This is an article about the U.S. government responding to terrorists on social media. I think this is very immature of the government. The U.S.'s famous position on terrorism is that they do not negotiate with terrorists. Arguing and communicating with them on social media is only giving them what they want and does not help to uphold our famous position. The U.S. however, is helping to shut down false claims by these groups, hopefully increasing the number of good people living in the U.S. and stopping terrorists.

    1. I do not think that our stance should always be to just attack and not talk it out with the people who are terrorizing first. It really is not a safe system and tends to cause more harm than help. I do not think it is immature, either, because it shows that the people running our government at least know how to put on their big boy underwear and talk things out, rather than run in with guns blazing, assuming everyone is a bad guy. Finally, terrorists communicating with us is not what they want, they want revenge, chaos, and money, the majority of the time, and talking to them, trying to settle things differently, is not a bad idea, even though it rarely helps.

This video is about a circuit judge that said to a person he was sentencing, "I hope you die". I think this was very unprofessional of the judge and makes him look like a very easily emotionally suede judge. I think the courts should be able to hold their personal feelings back more than to say that. Judges are supposed to be immune to outside things going on, this is just another example of how they truly are not even when they try to be.

    1. Wow... I think that while we are all allowed to have our own views, there is a time and place to state those views. This judge voicing that he hoped the person he was sentencing would di is completely uncalled for. It doesn't matter if he was a mass murderer or rapist, the court room is supposed to be a neutral ground where we find order and justice, so, while the judge may have felt right saying this, considering it justice, we have a system, and that breaks it. Plus, anyone could take what this judge out of context and turn it against our government and try to say that it is extremely corrupt in ways that it is not.

This is about the effects that the new obamacare has started. There are still so many people that havent signed up and now they cant afford it. I still think obamacare is dumb. Its the government telling us what to do. I dont think thats fair at all.

    1. I do not think Obamacare is a good plan to put in place, I am more on the side of the government staying out of as much as they can. Healthcare should not be pushed upon people who are only going to be hindered more not being able to pay it than they would not having it at all. Yes every person having health care available to them is a great idea but it being forced is, in my opinion, unconstitutional.

    2. I think that it was a good theory but in practice, it is impossible to make it affordable for everyone. What makes it worse is that there are just so many flaws with the affordable healthcare act. In the plan itself, it's execution, and it's website. All this controversy over it is to be expected. I think the plan should be redesigned.
