  1. Lol. That doesn't count Bryce!
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2014/04/07/married-congressman-sorry-after-seen-kissing-staffer-in-video/ this article discusses how a newly elected congressman was caught kissing a women who turned out not to be his wife. Well, obviously he should have controlled his actions and focused on being professional. So instead of celebrating he will be sucking up to his wife, children, and fellow congressmen to show he is serious about his new position. Even if I see an attractive man in public doesn't mean I am going to kiss him because I am shy and have too much time on my hands. Aren't you glad I post first? Yeah, your welcome. <3

    1. Amanda valiantly defends her title!
I agree with what you said. This is just such a horrible way to start off. I do not see why people cannot just control themselves. Just because you recognize that someone is attractive does not mean you have to go kiss them! That is just silly. It is going to be hard for him to prove himself serious about this, I'm sure, but it is very interesting nonetheless.

    2. I agree with you guys, there is no excuse for this Congressman to be so unprofessional. I always find it pretty absurd when sex and cheating scandals come out with public officials. People in public office should realize that they're whole lives are gonna be under the microscope and that they have a high chance of being caught doing wrong. It's even more ridiculous that he would do this in his own office so blatantly.

    3. It's a shame that people who are elected to public office soon fall from grace and end up like Representative McCallister. A married man with five children and he feels the need to have an affair. He should've considered that as an elected official, there's people out there who are willing to do anything to defame you, like publishing that video. Goes to show that work and play don't mix very well.

    4. maybe he just wanted to follow in the footsteps of the Big Bill Clinton. it seems like he didn't pull it off very well. not everyone can be a god among men such as the BIll, If he wanted to get on the right foot though, he isnt getting a very good majority with these actions. He's going to have a lot of sucking up to do and just staying out of media and public eye for a bit.

    5. This is a morally wrong thing to do as well as jeopardizing his professionalism. We are all here talking about it though, so who wins that battle. This might have been a distraction or just a newly elected congressman trying to get his name out. This might be an intricate ruse to get the populous to talk about him, or just a man wanting some action who knows.

  2. http://money.cnn.com/2014/04/07/news/economy/obama-equal-pay/ This article explains Obama's plan to get equal pay for women. He wants women to feel comfortable in their place of employment and able to ask questions regarding their promotions, compensation, and fellow employees. Although you rarely here about this issue, I still think it is very much present and women should be allowed to speak up and be treated equally.

    1. This is such a huge issue, and I am so glad to hear about it being addressed. The fact that this has not been fixed yet is really phenomenal. There is absolutely no reason for women to be paid less, so it is refreshing to know that this issue is going to be solved. Equality in the workplace should be guaranteed for everyone.

    2. It is sad that we have to legislate things that should happen automatically. Men, women, minorities, disabled, all should be paid based on their abilities and work performance, not on any other factor. It is important to keep pushing equality until it becomes something we no longer have to think about, it just is. In the future we should be amazed to find examples of when it is not being equal, instead of being surprised when we do find examples of equal pay happening today.

    3. Either way, everyone should feel equal. They just raised a servers minimum wage. Which brings me to another thing. They are trying to get min. wage up to 10.10 an hour. I honestly think its dumb because when they raise that, they are going to have to raise everything else.

    4. I think Obama's executive action was a great step towards the future for our country. For many years, it was only a small few who were actually given the fair and equal treatment they deserved, not only in the workplace, but in life as well. Now, all these years later, no matter your gender, race, religion, affiliation, or sexual orientation, you can receive equal treatment from your peers. It's just up to everyone else to follow in Obama's footsteps and end discrimination.

    5. I think that she was just an attractive woman and he couldnt keep his hands off her! then again it is wrong. But is it the publics opinon that really matters? No this is a situation between him and his family. Alot goes on behind closed doors that we dont hear about. How do you know that him and his wife arent getting a divorce or that was just a friendly kiss. You dont. You need to know that full story.

    6. I think that equal pay for women is a great thing! To long in this country ghave we still discreimated against woman and we need to change that. Why should hard working women make less than a hard workign man. It is wrong and it is discrimitory. Ithink that in some senarios women work even harder than men. I am all for equal pay for women! Good Job Obama!!!

    7. I thought we lied in 2014 and that women rights laws were already passed to deem women equal to men or am I living in a total different planet? This raises more questions and concern for me than comfort. Questions like: “what jobs are men being paid higher than women?”, “Am I being paid at a lower rate than my male co-worker?”

  4. http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/ukraine-crisis/putin-warns-europe-about-ukraines-mounting-gas-debt-n77056
Continuing with my weekly discussion on Ukraine and Russia butting heads the newest problem is the large amount of debt the Ukraine owes Russia for natural gas. Russia supplies much of Ukraine and other nations who's natural gas lines run through Ukraine with natural gas. Putin is saying that if this debt, said to be around $40 billion at most, is not paid he will turn off these natural gas lines. On top of this the Russian gas company is removing their discounts that they originally gave to Ukraine possibly raising the price of natural gas by 70% which could bring Ukraine's economy to its knees.

    1. I worse could relate this to the American economy. We owe nearly 17.5 trillion dollars to other nations. What if these nations all of a sudden asked for their money? How could we pay for that?

    2. Putin seems to be playing a dangerous game of brinkmanship. Threatening to turn off the pipelines would impact more than just the Ukraine. It would impact other parts of Europe and possibly the EU/NATO. I am not sure that Putin wants to start antagonizing all of those countries as well. Perhaps Ukraine should seize those pipeline and other Russian assets and then declare the $40 billion dept invalid or the cost of Crimea that Russia took over.

    3. While extreme, this is a valid tactic in Putin's arsenal it is very risky. He shows real interest in Ukraine, and maintaining political influence over them. Ukraine must be worth more to him than previously assumed by the populous, for him to these lengths, and risks to maintain it.

  5. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/gop-led-house-passes-ryan-budget-n76936
Finally we are attempting to solve our debt problem! The Republican led house approved of a budget that would cut $5.1 billion over the next 10 years and lower funds for social programs. The budget was put forward by Paul Ryan and is passed 219-205. Its a step in the right direction even though it wont fully reduce our deficit. The proposal would repeal the Affordable Care Act, transform how food stamps are used and change Medicare. I like the initiative but I feel this won't make it past the Senate and the president.

    1. Okay... I am probably going to rant, but whatever... The proposal cannot "repeal" the Affordable Care Act because it was already passed and when the Republicans tried to get rid of it, it did not work. I am sorry, but they seriously need to get over themselves and stop trying to repeal a law by not allowing it to have money, because this is dirty and cheap and honestly, really immature. This is not a step in the right direction because people are still not going to agree. The point of making a budget and why they had to postpone it is to come to a mutual understanding and work together.... Republicans need to get their heads out of their butts and learn that they cant always have it their way when it comes to what our government does... No offense to you, of course, but I simply disagree.

  6. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2014/04/10/woman-reportedly-throws-shoe-at-hillary-clinton-in-las-vegas/?hpt=po_c2

So I just saw this on the news and had to find the video. This makes me think back to when a similar incident happened to George W. Bush back in 2008. I think Hillary handled this really well, making a joke about it after ward and keeping a positive attitude. the woman who threw the shoe has not been identified yet but was taken out immediately. she was said to be a protester but it is still unclear as to what she was protesting. She reportedly snuck into the event through security.

    1. I really like when politicians can be lighthearted about people doing things like throwing shoes at them in absolute disgust. Another thing, security must've not been really doing a good job if a shoe-throwing protester woman could just walk in and do that... I dunno. At least she wasn't throwing bombs or something like that

    2. I really like when shoes get thrown at politicians. It is hilarious, and as soon as I read it, it brought back memories of Bush like Gabby said. I think that the security could be improved upon as it seems really easy to just throw crap at them for some reason. Like, this is the second time someone has came in and just thrown a shoe and someone. If someone really wanted to, they could do some major harm in place of that shoe.

      Delete
    3. i mean what can security fully do though? are they going to make everyone take there shoes off? i dont think security is lacking since the most lethal thing coming in is a shoe. unless it becomes a major problem or a major shoe backlash starts, i dont see anything coming because of this incident.

    4. I think that this is a good idea and I hope that it goes far until it actually becomes a law. This is a way of trying to pay debt without digging in tax payers’ pockets, we already pay so much in taxes already to the Social Security and the US government so finding another means to pay the debt is a great idea !

  7. http://inthecapital.streetwise.co/2014/04/10/post-heartbleed-gov-cyber-threat-data-sharing/ This is what the gov't has really said/ done about the heartbleed bug, which I obviously don't really expect them to do anything but the FTC issued a policy to facilitate the fixing of the bug between companies. Heartbleed is this vulnerability they found in the encryption software most websites use to keep passwords and important safe. Keep yourself safe by changing passwords and using add-ons like Chromebleed so you know what sites are affected by the bug.

    1. I honestly don't think of this as a government issue as it is a vulnerability in the OpenSSL software and as an open source BSD licensed software, the responsibility behind these issues is put behind the end-user of the software. When using open source software, there is a bigger risk in a vulnerability due to any one (with any intent, bad or good) being able to see the code in its entirety and easily find exploits.

This video talks about what people thing obamacare will do and if it has any effect on anything or anyone. I personally think its kind of smart but dumb. I know a lot of people that still haven't go insurance and don't plan on it. I just don't like the fact that the government can tell us what to do.

    1. I am honestly so happy that Obamacare is a thing... My mom was without insurance for the last 6 years and now she has it. It is really a blessing and I think that if it had been presented by Bush, a lot of the people who hate it would love it.... It isn't the government telling us what to do, it is the government looking out for us in a way that does not harm our rights to privacy and the program gives us many options, sooooo, it really is just like insurance people would normally get, but cheaper, and easier.
