This article states that over 4.2 million have signed up for Obamacare. Although many have signed up they have not payed their premium. They are more focused on the amount of young adults that sign up than overall. This is a group ages 18-34 who are healthier and at a lower expense. I think the number of those who have signed up is pretty low considering our total population of young Americans.

    1. I think the amount of bashing that Obamacare has taken, not only from the public, but the media as well, is turning people off of wanting to get it and make sure that the premium is payed up. In my opinion, people shouldn't choose not to get Obamacare simply because of what they hear from the media or word-of-mouth, but rather look deeper into what Obamacare has to offer, all the different plans, and find one that suits them.

    2. I agree that Obamacare has taken a beating in the past couple of months. It also does not help with all bad publicity the media has shared about it. I think that people should research into it and see if everything they are hearing is true or not. Then they can decide for themselves whether or not they like it.

    3. I agree that Obamacare has been criticized a lot, and that the bad publicity of it has over all made people not want to sign up and be a part of it. However, i also think that people should research it for themselves and find out what they think of it.

    4. Yeah, agreed. I know that people hate to make decisions for themselves and all, but it really is not that difficult to do. If more people paid attention to Obamacare and actually looked into what it offered, there might be more diversity regarding public opinion on it.

    5. I agree with obamacare but then again theres a reason people couldnt have ins. before; They didnt have the money so why would they now? So they can sign up for it but they still cant pay for it. So with them not pyaing for it, is fining them and putting them in more debt.

    6. Obamacare has been a very big topic for some time, I think that thy should be considered with people paying not the amount of people that sign up. I think people should sign up but also pay. they should also so there own research about it and form there own opinion.

    7. I agree with everyone saying that people didn't have health insurance before. They couldn't afford it and theres no difference now. They're forced to have it instead.... Adding on to it there has just been all kinds of problems with it.

This article talks about Obama's guest appearance on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifinakis, a Funny or Die video. Obama used this to appear to the younger audience about Obamacare. I attached the full YouTube video. The first part is Galifinakis and Obama trying to be funny, but it's just awkward. In the second half Obama really promotes his new healthcare plan. I think this was weird, but it got the media's attention!

    1. Ok, so I've been a fan of BTF and Zach Galifinakis for a really long time and it's his routine. He's trying to be awkward, he's trying to make you feel uncomfortable, and the depreciating jokes towards Zach is the bit. It's literally like that in every episode of the series. One of my favorite comedic bits of his is one from his performances (Live at the Purple Onion) is this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gwqc5t7OcLU) so basically, he is my muse and a comedic genius. Also, I think that this did a good job, and that I love that Obama has a sense of humor (although unfortunately doesn't equate as something people look for in a president I don't know why (I do know why, I am being facetious)). I think that he definitely drew in the college crowd, as I know that people who are college-aged are into this kind of thing. Get it, Bams.

    2. Eh, weird I guess, but it's my sense of humor (I want to work for [AS] and Zach is one of my favorite comedians, though, so I guess I have some bias). BTF is really good, if you're into Zach's sense of humor. I think it's so cool that Obama went along with this, he's pretty cool. It's a pretty creative way for him to promote his healthcare plan. I think him doing things like this shows that he's more into reaching out to the people through means that he knows will get to them.

    3. Obama did this interview to get the media attention and it worked! He tried to do a not so serious press conference with the media so he chooses to use someone who is known to be funny to speak with. His strategy worked it has everyone talking which has people going to go watch it. All this is going down while he’s getting his message.

    4. this is how Zach does his stand up and i think it's wonderful and refreshing. i like how they made something funny and talked about important things. this was a great way to get media attention worked very well. who else is better than the star of the hangover movies. this was a great way to get something across.

    5. I think this is a good strategy for Obama. He is working with a pop culture figure trying to improve his image and premote his plan towards us. Not only that, but a lot of other people do the same. Why can't he?

    6. I think this was a different move for Obama to try to get attention from the younger crowd. He's trying to get a message out to the public about what hes trying to do. Teaming up with a well known actor and comedian was a good strategy to try to get his idea heard. I personally thought it it was pretty hilarious and exactly the kind of humor Zach displays in all of his work.

  3. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/cia-hacked-congress-computer-network-senator-article-1.1717644 I literally just heard about this today but this is probably the most unheard thing I've seen recently. the CIA has apparently hacked computers of the Senate Intelligence Committee (although this was back in 2010.) When I was watching CNN today they also mentioned the Congressional oversight of the agency as a potential motive, which seems extremely logical and probable.

    1. It's really odd to hear that the CIA needs to hack into the computers of a Senate committee, you'd think if they really needed that information, especially something CIA related, they could easily acquire it with the proper clearance. Sure, something as serious as possible torture by CIA agents is something that wouldn't be small-talk of the day, but if the CIA wants to know how deep a Senate committee is digging into their information, they should.

    2. This is very weird to hear. It is almost as if the CIA is trying to expand their power and get their way of doing things. They want to be able to do things their way, without any complaints. Hacking into the SIC was just an example of that. They don't like the idea of possibly getting restricted and losing their control over how they do things.

      Delete
    3. I also think that this is weird to hear about, i figured that the senate committees had everything open to the rest of the government. Why would the central intelligence agency have to hack the computers? The CIA dont like being restricted from information, thats for sure. Yet why would anything be restricted from them?

      Delete
    4. I feel as if if your apart of the government you should know secrets, the CIA shouldn't have to hack into anything just to get information. They shouldn't be put on restrictions. It would make sense if the committees were open to secrets

      Delete
    5. why would they need to do this? isn't everything in the committees supposed to be open to the public eye? also what could a committee be hiding thats so important that the CIA has to go to these measures, Maybe they could have just asked, who knows. now the question is how far will they go in other parts of our lives?

      Delete
    6. This is a perfect example of why people don't trust our government because they go behind their own backs. Agencies within our government can not be trusted so why should should its citizens. This shows the need that our government needs to learn to work together to get things accomplished rather than working against each other like enemies.

  4. Isn’t it all one big government with one big secret that all that need to know already know? I have more questions reading about this than I understand the article. Isn’t the CIA the headquarters of secrets for the USA? Why do they need to hack into the Senate’s computers if they should already know those secrets?

  5. http://crossfire.blogs.cnn.com/2014/03/13/crossfire-reloaded-is-colorado-getting-too-high/

This article is about how colorado is legal to have weed. But are they getting to much? I personally think that it is kind of pointless to have it legal and selling bc the govt is still able to tax but the black market is still making plenty of money

    ReplyDelete

    1. I honestly do not see a problem with making weed illegal. I, personally, do not smoke, and I do not plan to, but our government is OBVIOUSLY having a problem with regulating this drug by making it illegal, so I think that if they just sold it themselves and taxed it, this whole problem would disappear. The black market would, of course, still make a lot of money, but that is also because they sell other illegal drugs. Marijuana is already out there, so there is no getting rid of it, and there were points that drinking was illegal, but that was revoked, so why not this?

      Delete
    2. Personally, I feel like this might lead to other drugs becoming legal. Marijuana was to mainstream to control so they decided to make it legal. Does that mean if heroin or crack gets to "mainstream" there going to legalize that? Its just a thought.

Diplomatic efforts in Crimea are failing and as it seems so far Russia is already taken control of Crimea from troop in placements even though its still a part of Ukraine. Plus with Russia having popular support in Crimea its going to be harder for Ukraine to keep them a part of Ukraine. Then as a bonus to my worries several thousand Russian troops near Ukraine's boarder. Russia's foreign minister has promised that his countries troops will go no further into Ukraine but Secretary of State John Kerry does not seem to trust him.

  7. http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/syrias-children/senators-call-robust-humanitarian-strategy-syria-n52346
The Senate is calling upon Obama to create a new "robust humanitarian strategy" to help feed the starving children left behind in the Syrian crisis. Personally I hate to see innocent children being left behind in the carnage of a civil war to starve to death due to not being able to fend for themselves. So, I side with the Senate in wanting Obama to create a plan to help us, the worlds number one largest donor of humanitarian aid, feed these children.

    1. I think this is a good thing coming from the Senate but it also should have came sooner and also by the hands of the President. Our government has known what is going on in Syria and is against it so they need to take a step forward and try to give those suffering from things out of their own control help. Senate shouldn't need pressure put on them by humanitarian organizations to urge that the President make a better plan to help these victims.

This article is about how the nation feels about Russia right now. For the first time in more than a decade the U.S. populous feel that Russia is a threat to the United States. This comes the results of a National survey which shows that a whopping 69 percent of Americans feel that Russia is a real threat to us. It also said that American place Russia with North Korea and Iran as being seen as a threat. this seems to be in part because Vladimir Putin's negative view from Americans. In my opinion this has come because of the actions that have taken place in the Ukraine recently.

    1. I completely agree with you as to why this came about, and I feel that the whole past that America has with Russia is coming back up. America and Russia have never gotten along and it is quite obvious that there will always be tension. The whole world has negative opinions about America, so I do not think that that is a reason for us to not get along, for we have collaborated with many countries that do not particularly like our culture or society. The events in Ukraine have been going on for years now and I think that because it is just now becoming a big deal, that is why we are getting into the row with Russia.
