http://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-kicks-off-effort-to-reexamine-college-campus-sexual-assault/ This article is about Joe Biden starting his efforts to stop sexual assault on college campuses. He says that no matter what a woman is wearing or where she is, no means no and that sexual is a straight forward crime, plain and simple. I completely agree with him. Just because a woman may be dressed provocative, doesn't give someone the right to do what they want to her. It is wrong and there is no reasoning behind it. That's like saying that just because you got on someone gets on your nerves, you beat them up. There is no logic behind it.
It's good to hear that Joe Biden cares so much about how our country's young people are receiving they're college education and that everything is being done to ensure that nothing stands in the way of them having an equal opportunity at education. It's disgusting to hear that women in our nation's colleges are being taken advantage of when all they're trying to do is further their education and be successful in life. Consensual sex on college campuses is okay, but like Joe Biden said, no means no.
I agree that there are finally efforts to end sexual harassment of women, especially during their campus years. I also think it's disgusting that society and media has created and increased sexual harassment due to the image of women and how they are beneath men. On the fact of dressing provocative I think the clothes a women has chosen to wear is up to her, but with how society is today it's just going to increase their likelihood of being assaulted.
Right on, Joe! I agree with this wholeheartedly, and it is so def to see someone tackling this issue. Everywhere they go, women are subject to objectification. They should be able to feel safe on their college campuses. Provocative dress should never be something people consider a qualification for consent.
I completely agree with Biden, I hate it when women get told its there fault because the way they are dressed, while i do think that some girls should be more conservative, its still not there fault. Sometimes the women is just trying to look pretty or maybe like soceity has taught her, i dont think she is purposely trying to be sexually assaulted..I dont think women should be beneath men at all. This is deffiantly an issue and Im glad Joe Biden is taking an interest in this.
Ah, Joe. You're a good dude with a nice smile and a beautiful personality. (even though you don't know how many letters make up the word "jobs".) Seeing this is pretty great, honestly. No one is ever asking for rape, no matter how much sex they engage in, no matter what they wear and whether or not they were intoxicated. Sexual intercourse and acts without consent equal rape. It's a huge problem on college campuses and it's just great to know that my baby boy Biden has his mind on it.
I completely agree with his efforts. I don’t why there is a lot of sexual assault on campus grounds than any other specific spot so this is a good idea. It doesn’t matter what a female is wearing they shouldn’t be subjected for their attire. They are expressing their freedom of speech and if they wanted to roam around naked they should be able to without some pervert getting a bad idea in his head.
I completely agree with Biden. It NEVER is a womens fault. The fact that people believe that it is, is ridiculous. Men really need to get their sexual wants taken care of in a healthy way. Taken advantage of a women when intoxicated and or by force is rape. I don't care what she is wearing! What she is wearing does not give anyone the right to sexually harass her in any sort of way.
I agree with this completely. Its never the women fault and she shouldn't think it is. No does mean no but yet some people cant get that through their heads and seem to understand that you cant do that. If its happening on college grounds then it seems to me that they arent having enough security and watch out for these young girls who cant get the men away.
I agree that sexual is a really terrible crime, as well as the people that preform sexual assaults are not fully punished for their crimes. People will always commit crimes though, and no one is scared of Joe Biden, so instead of just not standing for it he should try to get a mandate that states that colleges need to have certain security measures put in place. As well as not only focus on college campuses just because it might happen more there if that's true or not it doesn't matter, it should be as a general thing not based upon trying to show appeal to certain groups of women, it should just be a general concern for rape, and sexual assault. Rape is always a bad thing and will always be a bad thing. If he wants to make a difference he should try to take action, that is hard given his position though. Burn...
I think that this is so obvious and cant believe there already isn't more of what Joe Biden is proposing. Even given that the female is dressed provocatively, there is not out come for harassment and rape is still rape. I agree with Curtis because rape is already illegal and just placing more legislation around it won't do much because it will be broken anyway. Extra security around college campuses should be applied where necessary.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/are-americans-as-polarized-as-their-politicians/ This article is about whether or not Americans are just as polarized as their politicians. I think that Americans are just as polarized as their politicians. Many Americans want to better the country, but they all have different ideas of how they want to do it. They can be conservative, liberal, and sometimes even radical. Everyone wants the best for the country, but they just don't really know how to do it.
The fact that Americans feel more disconnected and distant from their government than before is a fact to have a bit of fear of. Also to be concerned about, is the fact that more and more Americans are abandoning the political party and declaring themselves as Independent/Centrist. America, as we know already has abysmal voter turnout, far behind our democratic brethren. If more people feel disconnected from our government, then they'll feel as if their participation doesn't matter, and that their vote doesn't matter, so they won't feel that they need to vote.
I think the government is only made possible because of its citizens. We were all created to hold different opinions and I like that some citizens are exercising their right to share their opinions towards their ideas in politics. I think there is always room for improvement in bettering our country and that can be done by participation of Americans and those crazy politicians.
I agree with Anthony. This goes back to what we have talked about in class. Americans want change and for everything to better themselves, but they do not want to put in the work to get it done or deal with the sacrifices they'll have to make. Its the same thing with lowering the debt ceiling. People want to lower it but they do not want to have to pay higher taxes. Americans are polarized in the sense we want what we can't have, based on things we aren't informed on.
I agree. So many people just want things handed to them now days with out putting in the effort. It is very hard to get any group to fully agree on how things should be done and then when you have several groups it is almost impossible. But our country had a tradition on debating issues and then deciding them and moving forward. We seemed to have lost the art of debate and compromise for the greater good. Now the loudest and meanest seem to win the day with the result of fracturing our political process.
I feel like Americans are not as polarized as their politicians, and that they float more towards the middle than the average politician. Granted there are citizens that will be extremely one side or the other, but these people are generally political elites, and have very strong opinions. But the average America is generally less informed and opinionated, thus they share more views with each other than against each other because they float so close to the middle of the spectrum.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/19/politics/kerry-ukraine/index.html?hpt=po_c2 This video is about the US trying to sound tough and trying to scare Ukraine into stopping the political violence. The violence going on over there is none of our business. Obama is trying to seem tough by sending "warnings". When will our involvement and the lives of our people stopped being risked for the sakes of other ungrateful people. The Ukrainian government too should not be using military force to stop the protesters. Sending a warning to other nations including Ukraine as has been done before is putting us at risk and deepening our involvement where it is not needed,
Nothing makes me more mad than when the US gets involved into things they dont need to. Sending them warnings for no reason is only gonna cause more problems with ukraine that we dont need. I think the governments involvement in other countries is too much, no wonder people dont like US. I do agree the ukraine shouldnt be using the military but thats not our government or military, so why do we care? Doesnt Obama/Gov't have better things to do?
I'm probably the only person who thinks it can be a good thing to intervene with other countries, especially with the state that Ukraine is in. Isolationism is something the citizens of the US have been keen to develop, but I think that there's nothing wrong with what Obama has done as far as his intervention abroad. (questionably, Syria. At the most.) You can't make immediate calls for a military intervention but you absolutely cannot turn a blind eye to atrocities. No country can have the idea that "Oh, well, doesn't directly effect me, so no big deal" because that's definitely not going to help any country's relation as a world power, ya dingus. I think that, as of now, there have been no wrong doings, especially in talks of sanctions.
This is another case of the United States not being able to mind their own business. We always want to sound and look better than everyone else when the matter of the fact is these countries we are “warning” have their own government and know what they are doing they are not a part of the United States, they shouldn’t be warned like we own them.
i think that its a wise thing to intervene with other countries because things that go on outside of the united states have been known to affect us in the end, or would if we didnt stop them. So yeah, it might seem not important to us but in the end it might be good that we did do something.
Obama should not get the US involved in this situation. Why would he want to risk the life of his own citizens to help out when it probably wont do anything but get our citizens hurt. Ukraine's government is also in wrong because why would they be using military forces to stop protesting. That's over doing it in my opinion.
i myself do not like the fact of sticking or nose into other peoples business. why cant we just worry about our own country right now? we cant even control our dept, yet we are going to Ukraine and use more money for that when its none of our business. we have more important problems then all these foreign affairs. we need to help ourselves before we can help others.
Our country really needs to stay away from other countries and fix its own problems before it tries going to fix theirs. We have our own problems that need to be dealt with and when we go trying to fix other countries based on our own views, we end up creating more for us and their country. When will we ever stop?
We should really stay away from all of these warring countries, it just puts stress and responsibility onto us. We shouldn't get involved with this issue, it is literally out of our jurisdiction, and honestly we have nothing to gain above all else, if you wanna look at it like that. Their isn't even oil or power to temp us, so it makes no sense to get involved.
This is a very cool site. You press the button and you google a set of words to set off the NSA word filter and in fact, summon the NSA to your computer. Well honestly the NSA is still getting barked at for all of the hollering they are doing through our phone calls and through our web searches. Like most Americans are insulted they are spying on their every day lives..
This is a great way for people to see how ridiculous the NSA is being about the "National Security" the protection of the nation should not infringe our rights as people. As it has always been stated the people come first and if the people would rather have attacks than allow the government into our lives let us. It is a terrible thing what they are trying to do to us, and I say let terrorism run wild it'll become uncool in a couple of years and they'll all go home. Our even better we'll have a new crusades that always fun.
i mean if they want to see what we look up, have at it. in they end they might just be creeped out or disgusted. maybe even wondering why i have 37 tabs of bill clinton open at any time. what are they going to do, impeach me? President Obama is placing bets with Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper over the Olympic hockey games between the USA and Canada. They both placed a bet of a case of beer from each country. We have not learned what beer Canada would be giving Obama, but we do know that Obama had to give Canada a case of rare White House home brewed beer after the girls lost to Canada a few days ago. For the men's game Obama is hoping the USA wins to get his beers back. My question is, how is Michelle letting him do this?
bahaha my question is why it is so normal for people to even bet something as pointless as beer. I guess at least it shows Obama is on our side as far as cheering for our own team, rest of America realizes we will get annihilated in hockey versus the Canadians. Michelle I wonder is probably just brushing this off like it doesn't even matter, it is his beer after all, Mr. President Guy Dude does whatever he wishes with his beer.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/obama-meets-with-the-dalai-lama-over-chinas-objections/ President Obama is planning a meeting with the Dalai Lama even after strong resistance by Chinese officials since China and the Dalai Lama are not exactly on the best of terms since they see him as an enemy to China. It still has not been said if she is going to run or not yet. I think she shouldnt run only becuase then that puts her husband who was taken out of office, back in and near the office.
Well, I don't think that her husband being a former President really matters. Hilary is a strong, independent woman, whom I think will do an amazing job as President. Her husband really got most of his ideas from her, so I don't think that she will be influenced by him that much, if at all. I hope to GOD that she runs because I believe that she will win and make a wonderful "first woman to be President".
In this comical yet serious post, an innocent black man is wronged by the white man police officers. He is hit by the cops while sitting in his girlfriends car waiting for her, and they arrest him for destruction of city property. With the help of a neighbors security camera, the charges were dropped and he is now suing the police for what they did. What about you guys? What do you think about this shizznizz?
I think that the man has all of the right to sue the police for this. I think this because he was not doing anything and just sitting there, and it was assumed that some wrongdoing was being done here. If i was in that man's spot, than I would be very angry. But what i do not see is how they tried to arrest him for destruction, when he probably was not even moving and was in a car.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/why-the-2016-presidential-campaign-will-be-the-worst-ever/ This article is obviously a biased opinion on why the election of 2016 will be the worst. But other than that, this made me think that this election will probably be coming around the corner and, probably, not many people have thought about this election since it is coming up in two years. But what can be told from this article is that 2016 election articles are probably going to be coming up more soon than we think.
Campaigns for the next running always start when the previous presidents' term begins. They have a lot of planning to do, so it does not surprise me that we are already seeing things about it, and I am expecting commercials to start this summer, if not coming fall. I think that this election is going to be a large strain on both sides of the political realm. There is an extremely conservative candidate up to bat for the Republicans and a woman for the Democrats. I think that both sides are going to be ravenously at the throats of the opposing team for this election because it will be more "scandalous" to some for having a woman in charge, rather than a black man.

ReplyDeleteIn this comical yet serious post, an innocent black man is wronged by the white man police officers.

ReplyDeleteThis article is obviously a biased opinion on why the election of 2016 will be the worst.
