This article is about Illinois being the 16th state to allow same-sex marriage. Since DOMA being overturned in the supreme court, their has been a flurry of activity with same-sex marriage and states making laws allowing it.This seems to be a reaccuring theme and it was said that they want a country with complete marriage equality. This is a great thing for our country, it is showing that we are getting closer to true equality.

    1. I agree as well. I believe that more and more states that allow same-sex marriage are taking big steps to a better country. It is very sad that DOMA was overturned and that this country will not allow for true equality. It is not our right to judge others on what they do with their life. As more and more states allow same-sex marriages, the federal government will see that it is fighting a lost battle.

    2. I completely agree with both of these statements. Recently, I saw an article, but I can't find it right now, about how Target now has registry for marriages between those of the same sex and how people, because of their ignorance, are trashing Target and refusing to shop there. And then I read, in that same article, that Target supports Trans people, as well, and that they give courses on pronoun usage so that no one is offended. I think that Target is one of the only companies doing things right, now adays.

    3. this is a great step and this is showing our country is making steps closer to equality. It also shows that even with DOMA being overturned we can still change politics, even if its just one step at a time.

    4. I think that all states should allow this. I think by not allowing it , its not equality. I think the DOMA is helping in a good way. I support same sex marriage, If two people are in love why try to change it ? Let them be . I think Target is doing the right thing as well

    5. I agree with states like these moving forward and taking the first steps to making this country truly equal. I think that the over turning of DOMA was a crucial first stride in equality and showing that we as a country aren't going to stay closed minded and conservative the way we used to be. It is great that companies such target are standing up for the rights they believe in and trying to make a difference even if it means losing costumers and getting trashed trashed the way it has.

    6. I love the fact that there are more and more states are pushing forward to equality. Similar to the civil rights movement, LGBT are trying to get the opportunity to have the same rights that every citizen in this country should have. Although I've been wondering when the LGBT community has their rights that they have been fighting for who is the next group that will be segregated.

This article is about how low president Obama's abroval rating is getting and how it is down 9 points from last month from 46% to 39%. They are thinking that it is this low because of the failed attempt at a national health care with Obama Care. The worse statistic though is that his overall trust rating has also gone down because of going back on people being able to still use their insurance instead of Obama Care if they were happy with it. He is nearly close to Bush's disapproval rating which is a terrible thing to be compared to, in my opinion. I think that it is so bad for it to be so low is because once it gets that low it takes a lot for the public to approve and trust you again and it is never good for the public to be against a president.

    1. I agree with Dyer's statement. I think that you cannot regain someone's trust on such a huge issue affecting the whole country. I think Obama Care was stupid in the first place because there is so much controversy over creating it and it is not going to fit the nation's individual needs. I also think they should not force anyone to have to use Obama Care. I think it should be the person's choice whether or not they want to stay with their current plan. It would also be way too much for certain people to afford also. Honestly, Obama's second term is almost up and someone new will be elected and will change it again anyway, so why waste the rest of his term creating it and causing so much trouble?

    2. I agree as well. I do not think that Obama will ever get back to his old trust rating unless he does something spectacular. He has an entire nation depending on him and he let them all down. He is trying to force things on the nations people that they do not want. America is supposed to be the nation that has the freedom of choice and Obama forcing that everyone has to get it goes against that. It is very unnerving that Obama would do that to this nation.

    3. Not only has Obama rolled out this whole healthcare system and forcing it on us, but he failed to even do it properly. We have all heard about the errors on the website.

This article is for fun and is about A-Rod, they say that he was using performance enhancing drug while playing baseball. He is set up to have a 211 game suspension it is record setting.

    1. Sometimes I find it embarrassing and shocking when people turn to drugs to enhance their performance, but then I remember that our society sucks and makes us feel inadequate, which leads to us using drugs and then punish them for doing the very thing we lead them to do. This reminds me of my favorite quote from the movie Ever After that says that a country makes thieves and then punishes them for the very crimes their first education taught them to do.

    2. I think in any sport you should try your hardest and do your best. I do not think that drugs is the answer though. If you are caught doing drugs I think you should not be able to participate in that sport anymore, you should be kicked off the team no matter what. I think it shouldn't even just be suspension, he should be kicked off permanently. I think doing drugs can screw your life up & anyone who does them is just ignorant.

    3. I disagree with the use of performance enhancing drugs. I think they give an unfair advantage to the players using them and deserve to be outlawed. If he did use them then he should get his suspension. But if he did not do it then I think it is not right for them to punish him for it. The commissioner should stand up for the fact that he thinks a rod is guilty he should go to court.

    4. I find it completely appalling that athletics need to use performance enhancing drugs to do better in a sport. I've played sports my whole life, and it hurts me seeing athletes using performance enhancing drugs. When you start out playing a sport you set a goal of getting to the top, and poring blood, sweat, and tears into something that you care so much about. Then to see amazing athletes getting bet out by half as good athletes who use performance enhancing drugs just sickens me.

This article discusses the remembrance of John F. Kennedy's assassination. Kennedy was assassinated 50 years ago on November 22nd. Dallas, Texas took the opportunity to remember his dead in the Dealey Plaza. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, so many took to remembering and celebrating his great accomplishments as our president.

In Chicago, Illinois two women were allowed to earn gay marriage rights seven months before SB10 was to go into effect on June 1, 2014 due to one of the woman's terminal case of cancer. The bill for this marriage was signed for by judge Thomas Durkin and county clerk David Orr. They arranged to have the marriage as soon as possible.

Apparently our Congress is getting very lazy. This year our legislative has only passed 44 substantial laws out of the 52 they have signed into effect. Previous years Congress has averaged about 70 substantial laws and during Bush's second term in Presidency they had 130 laws signed into effect. However, they say that many of the topics being discussed are far more controversial than bills of the past such as Obamacare, gay marriage, and abortion laws. Good news is that they are doing better than what they were doing last year, but by only a small amount. Also, on average our Congress has been in secession longer than the average secession days over the past ten years.

    1. I don’t think congress is getting lazy I think they are just being precautious what get signed into law. Since the affordable care and a whole lot of other bills were signed into law it has affected many people’s lives. They have to take into consideration that even if they didn’t write or create the bill they are still responsible for it because they decide either it because a law or not.

    IN OTHER NEWS!
That great city up north called Detroit has broken a new record! It has gone 36 hours without a murder or a non-fatal shooting. Police also noted there’s been a 13 percent decrease in homicides. There’s also been a 5.6 percent drop in non-fatal shootings this year. They contribute this to the hard working men and women of Detroit's police force. The department has also formed several new units that have made impacts in lowering violence and potential violence and has formed a investigative control desk which takes notes of all major incidents citywide.

    1. thats a good thing to be hearing about a city that is very low right now. But on the other hands it's kinda sad we are excited that no one got killed in 36 hours. it makes you think like "wow" that city can only go less than 2 days without murder.

      Delete
    2. I agree, its kind of ridiculous when a city can't go almost a day without someone being murdered. I think this is just one step towards turning the city's crime rates around!
